Can a guy who made two threes all year and scored a goose egg vs SLU go 8/9 from three. He'll never sniff making half that in a game the rest of the year.

Why is anybody surprised when teams shoot out their ass against us... it's because they're wide open most of the time!

Take a timeout and find a volunteer to guard the guy. It’s impossible to understand how anyone could have that many uncontested shots after he made two.

It's not coincidence that so-so players have break out nights against Iowa.

Indeed. We are in about the same position we were in last year at this time — the worst defensive team in the league and by a pretty wide margin. The heck of it is that we don’t have freshmen to blame. I just don’t see a lot of room for growth here over the course of the season. We might improve a little but we are what we are defensively.

To win the B1G, you gotta play defense. You can’t rely on outscoring teams every night. The scouting/scheming is too good at this level, and so are the players. Some no name is frequently going to step up and hurt you if you don’t guard him because these are mostly top 200 players. They’re too good to let run wild.

Wisconsin is excellent. IU and Rutgers are very good. Illinois, Michigan, OSU and MSU all have a greater potential to improve than Iowa.

Right. This is a veteran-laden team with the basketball IQ of Forrest Gump.

Most high major players can make shots when unguarded. This wasn’t some sort of flukey bad luck. This was piss poor defense.

Nunge and Connor McCaffery are left open at the 3pt line every game and neither guy has gone off so far this season.

I do think that the psychology of making your 1st 3pt shot provides positive feedback. What Iowa zone defense gives up a lot of open looks and it really isn't possible to put much extra pressure on the hot hand. I think 6'8 johnson made 3 corner 3's in OT with 6'3 Fredrick trying to get out on him and it was game over.
