This is actually one of the smarter coaching moves Crean has made this year. I'm not a fan in general, but I am a big fan of playing his top-8 the bulk of minutes here. IU struggles mightily with playing long stretches of consistent, competitive effort. The goal is to get better and compete in the B1G and March. This game (against a pretty good kenpom top-120 team before the game) itself was irrelevant as far as winning or score. IU needs to figure who they are and how to play hard and fundamental at a high level, regardless of the circumstance. The game is the best practice it can get, and Yogi Ferrell, Blackmon, et. al. will have to play 30+ minutes in competitive games executing at a high level, so they need to practice that. And, sportsmanship has nothing to do with it.
