I glanced at their board this afternoon and it is truly is amazing that some of their fans are saying how Nebraska is one of the top five coaching jobs in the nation and there are several coaches would jump at the chance to go there. LOL....it is pure entertainment.

Funny thing is, during the Pelini years Eichorst says it was his policy not to comment on football during the season. Well we saw what happened almost immediately after losing to Northern Illinois.

Nebraska fans think they have the best everything...
-Fans
-Stadium
-Facility
-Tradition

You try to tell them otherwise, it's not like that anymore, etc... They immediately run you and your program into the ground and remind you about their five national titles.

I'm scratching my head as to why some want Trev Alberts as AD. He's as big of douche as Pelini. He seems like a narcissistic egomaniac. I hope they do it just to continue the train wreck.

I always thought Alberts was pretty sharp. I may be wrong...but he's nowhere NEAR as big a d-bag as pelini. That's certain.

Nebraska is a terrible job, and they won't get good coaches to come there. They think they are a top tier destination, the reality is that they are the smallest state and media market in the big 10; the fan base expects 10 wins a year. They are slowly becoming minnesota- used to be someone, and can't compete anymore.

Nebraska will flounder for another 40 years until almost every Husker fan who has a vivid memory of Cornhusker Football, and the near stranglehold it shared between itself and Oklahoma over the long dead and nearly forgotten Big 8 has themselves also died. Feasting upon forlorn patsies before facing the Sooners for the tarnished glory of long ago relevent conference crown has spoiled the average Nebraska fan and infected them with a sort of groupspeak that causes them to endlessly circulate amongst themselves the myth of a permanent Cornhusker superiority...something of a birthright if you will.

Nebraska and its fans, along with programs like Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Texas, etc. are fascinating to watch as they slowly and reluctantly begin the process of accepting where they really are in the modern landscape of college football, while trying to properly catalog an admirable past.
I agree. The entire fan base will need to 'break" and understand that their current station in college football is not what it was many years ago. Not a blue blood.

As one poster said, they won't be able to move on in Lincoln until every last fan who witnessed their glory years are dead. They don't realize they are now recruiting kids that weren't alive the last time they won a NC.

Total guess on my part, but they hired Riley cuz they needed a coach they could put in front of the camera who wouldn't: embarrass Nebraska with his mouth.
Yesterdays comment by Eichorst tells me that he's feeling the heat on hiring Riley and he thinks his job is on the line. Kinda chicken shxt that he wold throw Riley under the bus publicly like that.

Ready this: Nebraska Athletic Department staff confirms that Eichorst is feeling the heat.:):):):):)

I think they are learning the hard way right now. Riley was a head scratching hire. Firing solich was a big mistake several years ago. Now they have went deep into the rabbit hole with the carousel of coaches they have had. Why would anyone want to come and coach at Nebraska right now. It is the coaching death sentence. They almost have to keep Riley another 2 years just to show some stability.

IMO, eichorst should be fired immediately. Way to go and cover your own ass by throwing your coach under the bus. What a punk.
Where's the link of Eichorst doing this. I love a dumpster fire.

Nebraska WAS a top 10 job.... 20 years ago. Now...not so much.

Lots of other teams have great facilities now. Nebraska's is nothing special. Nobody cares about how many games you won 20 years ago...and outside of football, the University of Nebraska offers nothing unique...their academic profile is "meh". The "big" 12 has never been known for it's academic prestige.

And Lincoln... been to a lot of college towns... not impressed. A new reality is coming to Husker land...and it's not pretty.

Bo was a POS. Just look at what the guy is doing to not only the program but the institution of YSU. His recruitment of a convicted rapist to play football at YSU has that entire place in an uproar. Nebraska was right to let him go.

Where Nebraska went wrong is in the beginning firing Solich. That guy won double digit games and got fired. That set the precedent that Nebraska football has unrealistic expectations.

Read on the Big Red threads that Solich's hire was the start of their decline.

I tend to agree with you SoDak, but thought you might find that comment as interesting as I found it.

Why is Solich still at the same place now it is a honest question if he was all that good he would of took a job with a much better program by now I would think.

Check his criminal record. Found drunk in his car. He's been known to be a drunk.

Are you really a blackbird, or is that just a black shirt?
Definitely not a black shirt. :D Speaking of black shirts, although I like Gary Dolphin, I wish he would refrain from saying the opposing ball carrier ran into "a black shirt" and was taken down. I know what he means when he says this, but still....

I don't listen to his play by play, but I'll chew his ass next time I see him.;)

What about ISU? Is it 4 or 5 generations since their last conference championship? So would it be my great, great, great, great grandpa would of read ISU won the whatever conference championship in the daily news paper 100 plus years ago.

^ I have heard he knocked up a cheerleader... Riley was an AWFUL hire. I am not sure who we will get after this season, I would not be surprised if the SF not wanting to go to Nebraska rumors are true

You don't think Mediocre Mike will get 1 more year after this?

Historically Iowa State and Nebraska are miles apart. My point is that it's basically been a generation since they've even won a conference title.

For the record I don't like them at all and I was in Lincoln 2 years ago to watch iowa cap off 12-0 and froze my butt off and I couldn't have been happier to see NU lose. Warms my heart every time after decades of beat downs.

Some Nebraska fans are calling for Les Miles. He kept using "we" when announcing for them and I know his son plays for them.

Miles is 63 and had literally NO offense his last few years at LSU. So who knows?

I've thought more about it, and Eichorst's "unacceptable" comment not only throws Riley under the bus, it throws the players under the bus. They should fire Eichorst this week, not matter what they do with Riley.

What would they do? Bring Osborne back as interim AD?

Nebraska is most likely going to be hiring a basketball coach for sure after this year. Now it may be football and basketball.

Maybe, like the Gophers, Nebraska just needs a catchy slogan to be successful...How bout "ah shucks, we're the huskers" or "field of dreams" (oh wait, that one has been taken), "we are red in the face" and "red in the ass"(after having been kicked by NIU and Oregon), "land of hiring and firing"

Oh and by the way, I 100% disagree with Larry. No, college football is NOT better when Nebraska is top 5. College football is better when Nebraska gets beat....EVERY...SINGLE...WEEEKEND

I actually have no problem (mostly) with the Nebraska Football Coaches or most of its' players. It is their arrogant and pompous fans and Athletic Department Administrators that I dislike. If they would just play the game with humble integrity and stop rubbing everyone else's face in a Championship they won 20+ years ago and face their schedule and opponents like they respect them and give credit to teams when they are beaten fair and square then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

Be real, they have 5 National Championships.

I don't think the top college coaches are interested in coaching at Nebraska. The Riley hire leads me to believe that.
It's Nebraska, they aren't going after top college coaches when there are top NFL coaches to be had. Look for flights from Foxborough or Pittsburgh to Lincoln. o_O

Yea a lot of people are calling for Les, but he was definately biased because his son is a redshirt freshman FB on the team haha. I think having to play Bama every year really hurt him overall, but his biggest knocks were not having a qb/developing him.

Some other names I have possibly heard are Frost (obviously), Stoops (doubtful), Chip Kelly (lol), and Dava Aranda (which I like)

Their offensive line play is horrible. I think they have real talent at the skill positions, but their QB gets murdered.

hey Hawk fans.. you live closer than us PSU guys. Nebraska still doesn't realize that although she was the bomb in HS, she's an overweight mother in a trailer with 4 diff baby daddy's. It is your duty to reminder her.

I think she knows.

US Today just beat the snot out of them.

Honestly, I don't think Eickhorst makes it through the season. But shockingly, their press things Mediocre Mike gets another year. Let's hope so!!!!!! :):):):):):)

You like Dave Aranda as much after Saturday? Just curious.

It's sad, but who in their right mind would take the Nebraska job? Frost would be nuts to take it.

when I used to do a lot with HS and college football (ran a site called sandiegoballers.com) Dave Aranda was at Cal Lu... he was always looking at 4* players who wouldn't even set foot on campus.. he was a hungry young coach.
