Should've stayed at Wisconsin. And he is receiving zero buyout.

He was under contract through the 2021 season, but he and the university have agreed to release each other from "all future contract obligations and payments," the school said.

"After many discussions with Scott, waiving my contract is the correct decision and enables the young men and the program to move forward and concentrate on the rest of this season," Andersen said in a statement from OSU. "Coaching is not about the mighty dollar. It is about teaching and putting young men in a position to succeed on and off the field. Success comes when all parties involved are moving in the same direction."

I really like this:

"Coaching is not about the mighty dollar. It is about teaching and putting young men in a position to succeed on and off the field. But come on, there has to be more too it than that, right? Rejecting a $10,000 end of year bonus is one thing, but a few million?

Andersen seems like an odd duck. His move from Wisky to OrSU surprised everyone.

Maybe he'll be coaching high school next year. I'm serious. Seems like he lost his taste for big time football.

Love this infatuation with a Scott Frost. Reminds me of their infatuation with Callahan and Pelini.

This, I'm guessing just strangely principled. He said he'd walk if he couldn't win, he's frustrated and walked, tearing up the contract.

I sincerely doubt they were firing him, the AD is also from Utah state.

Gary Anderson quit, and almost everyone I’ve talked to is relieved. OSU can move forward without killing their budget on a buyout.

This.
Well respected offensive mind - should find work.

I smell B.S. here. Negotiated settlement for a reduced buyout I can understand but to walk away with nothing? Maybe he wants to be freed up to take another job. Nebraska? They seem to like Oregon State rejects over in Lincoln.
Would love to see Pelini wind up in Corvallis and instantly start winning 8-9 games per year...

I just watched Bo blow a gasket on the sideline this weekend at the Youngstown vs. South Dakota game. USD won in a top 10 matchup and Bo went Bo many, many times. You all know he recruited a convicted rapist to YSU and they've been getting crushed in the media over it.

Bo has pretty much burned it down, no way he'll ever get another P5 job.

That story keeps delivering. The said rapist sued Pelini for not letting him play.
God bless our Idiocracy.

Anderson was a mountain living guy, and when he left UW said as much. He was badly out of place at Wisconsin.

I would bet if he does take another college job, it's gonna be one similar to (if not returning to) Utah State.

I also believe he's a big fish in a small pond type, much like Mike Leach.

Losing to "helicopter man" was the beginning of the end. Might end up being Minny's best win.;)

It's better than that. Speculation at YSU is that Bo advised the player to sue the University into allowing him to play so that Bo could get him on the field. That is speculation but it is confirmed when this all went down that the player quit and Bo and an assistant drove to Steubenville to talk the guy into coming back.

This story makes you realize how much our instant gratification society has found its way into coaching (as one example). Gone are the days (with the exception of a school like Iowa) where you are given 4,5,6 years to prove yourself.

Now, coaches are fired before they even have a chance to coach their own recruits.

But in the end, we know it's all about the STUDENT athletes ... ;)

Not to derail the thread completely, but are we sure Iowa would give someone 4+ years? KF was showing improvements in year 2 and make a bowl in year 3. Then won the conference in year 4. Didn't Fry make the Rose in year 3?
