Our new QB Gronowski is having surgery and will be back prepping for season in June

Sports hernia isn’t nothing. It can become prone to retearing as well. I’m just sad we’re going to have to pray for good health for another qb again.
True but he will be in the best hands with the UI Sports Medicine guys and the surgeons. Nothing is a guarantee. But the dude has toughness that much is clear.

Cadie Mac seemed to spend all year hoping to not get hurt again. I would as well if I had almost 2 years of rehab and 2 blown knees.

The OSU NIL dropped $20 million on players. They’re playing in the semi final tonight.
Lololol.. and you actually believe that OSU is in that game BECAUSE of NIL? They would have been there with or without it most likely as they have been most years. A year or two ago Texas A &M dropped 30 million on a roster and had a losing record, and then most of the players hit the portal again. Have you really bought into this narrative that "fans" paying players will help the vast majority of teams like Iowa step up with the OSU's of the world? This is an arms war, and the top dogs will stay the top dogs. Pay the players from the revenue sharing and eliminate the collectives, and at least the playing field would be more level.....

1.25 million or so.....

I know , He has not even had the surgery yet and Iowa plays Aug 30th Sep 6 at the Clones, Sounds from the articles He gets the knife late January , if it is the throwing shoulder i do not see any way He spins it like pre injury by August and He is missing the reps in a new system with all new receivers and language , This is a freaking nightmare, I will go on record now and say Sulli or Brown will be starting against Albany
Possible medical redshirt?

Just don’t mention his possible mental illness. You will get a timeout.

Oh, insane one. Do you attempt to use mental illness as a weapon against your trans child, too?

I really hope not.

I have a trans child FFS!

I cant believe you posted in this thread, that means that it will go to the top and ahead of your Gronowski mega thread! Oh wait, nvm...

I don't understand why there is no pre transfer physical or insurance policy. Even a dope like me had to get key man insurance for my new company, in case I croak or get permanently disabled. This is wild.

There has to be more to the story here from Iowa's and the Swarm perspective or this is a colossal failure.

Not remotely the same as McNamara's surgery.

Gronowski played through his all last season and was still running between the tackles and through defenders. It's a routine surgery that will only take a few months to recover fully from.

I'd like him to have the spring too but he's still easily the better option than Sullivan.
I am not reading through five pages of Chicken Little musings, and I cannot believe I am agreeing with Frosty Flakes, but here we go.

1. What Frosty ☃️ said.

2. If Gronowski was fully healthy, there are probably a lot more suitors for his services. Maybe Iowa still gets him in the end; maybe they don’t.

3. This is the best quarterback prospect Iowa has landed in…I have no idea how long.

4. Iowa has finally landed a quarterback we have all been begging for since Brad Banks—a dual threat.

5. If Dylan Ravioli is Patrice Mahomes, then Mark Gronowski is Little Josh Allen, but with better character, better coaching, and better hair than Patrice.

Relax, guys.

You are such a dumb fook. Do you even think before you type?

You started the harassment and then I replied that you are not only a psycho but a drunk. Everyone knows that is an accurate statement.

Now, waddle back to the Off Topic forum with your bottle of booze; your pals over there miss ya.

Relax, guys.
Tate was more mobile than Gronowski , so was a healthy Beathard , also the proper spelling is Loðbrók in old Norse. Lodbrok anglicized by simps is Lothbrok , Free lesson on Me.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Cade McNamara considered a great QB prospect through the portal when we got him? I feel like that was a bigger get at the time compared to Gronkowski

Maybe.

Depends who you ask.

McNamara lost his starting job and was considered decent. By Iowa standards, yeah, I suppose.

I seem to recall Kirk continued to make injury-related excuses for McNamara halfway through the season.
"behind because he missed spring practice"
"working through some things"
"still rusty"
This is nothing like Cade. He hadn't had a healthy season in THREE years, and had three seperate serious leg injuries. On top of that he either couldn't or was afraid to step into his throws.

MG has not played a game for the Hawk yet. So, let's be patient before we say he is the next coming of Josh Allen or he is going to fail.
I am really not sure he is better than Sullivan. I hope he is; we will find out.

So, does anyone know if they promised him the starting position? Not participating in spring practice, I wonder. Do the other QBs go through spring practice knowing they cannot win the starting spot?

I have no idea.

Let's assume his surgery and recovery all go exactly perfectly and he's 110% in June. Judging by Kirk's track record, he's going to be given about three pages of the playbook if he does play in the Fall. God forbid Sullivan gets hurt, Kirk will take so much off his plate that we might as well start a coat rack under center for all the plays he will be expected to make. In a offense that values game manager over playmaker at quarterback, with a shortened learning window, we're going to see nothing but stretch runs to the short side and dump offs to the running back three yards behind the line of scrimmage for the first five or six games.

I was being facetious to poke fun at Nebraska.

There is no way to predict how good MG will or won’t be. My point was merely to dispute the idea that parallels should be drawn to CM.

And to make fun of Nebraska.

So…do we know what the surgery is for? Seems pretty important to pass any kind of judgement on the situation.
