Out of the loop re: McNamara

It’s all just been handled poorly by Iowa. Kirk comes out and says he’s the starter and he’s listed as QB1 on the depth chart. Then walks it back and has to change his story. Then they let Cade “opt out” of senior day. Is that a thing?!?!? I’ve never heard of that before. Not someone that could come back obviously but he is done.

Lets face it; when a person is not happy, they do interesting things.

I think we can all relate.

Just a guess, but considering how few games he ended up playing for us in his tenure, he may still feel more connected to Michigan and didn’t feel that the experience would have been good. Unfortunately I think that’s a mistake as this is probably the only opportunity he’ll get. Unless he’s going after a medical redshirt, which he could have a shot at considering the number of games he missed over the past three seasons.

Perhaps Cade decided to take “the higher road” on this? Maybe Cade didn’t want to walk out to an ovation of “boos”? Maybe Cade didn’t want to angst the crowd? A million reasons out there.
Concussions are a strange injury. Maybe Cade “didn’t feel right” even though he had been given medical clearance? Maybe there was miscommunication between Cade/Kirk and staff?
Perhaps it gets “we” try not to make a mountain out of a molehill…and let things work themselves out.

This. He also knows he knee was bad when he signed. He hoped but UM told him the truth.

Would he really have been booed?? I think he’s been awful and given every chance to succeed. I cheered loudly for Harris. Probably would have just stayed silent for Cade.

No, KF want a game manager which wouldnt go Banks, Tate, Stanzi, and CJ on him. He couldnt do much with that knee. All on Kirk

What you saw last night was KF s dream game.
Definitely all on Kirk and Brian. This becomes Lester’s offense after the bowl game, including getting a portal quarterback.

And let’s all call it like it is. Spencer Petras and Deacon Hill were both bad but they had no help and had to deal with Brian Ferentz as offensive coordinator and qb coach. This year we had the best o line (sometimes it didn’t seem like it) the past four years, an elite running back, great tight ends, and the best receiving room we’ve had in four years and most importantly a new offensive coordinator. And we couldn’t throw the ball.

He’s transfering

Who knows why he didn’t want to go all out but let the guy leave on his own accord. I’m sure he had big plans when he came to Iowa and it certainly didn’t go as either side would have wanted.

Best of luck on your chapter young man!
Agree … he had an injury ridden career … he was/is a good man and will be successful in his life but not in football and I hope I eat my words, but I want the best for this guy as it wasn’t like he wasn’t trying to do his best. He will absolutely be successful in whatever he plans on doing (sorry, besides for football) 🏈 stand up gentleman in my books

He's the highest paid player on the roster.

Suck it up. Be thankful. Be humble. Show up for Senior Day.

Collect your check. Move on.

We cant all relate to being a college player on a top team in a top conference. Cade had his chances here, made some nice throws, but ultimately if he is not happy then it is about his injuries because he got every chance here. You have to be a big person and suck it up.

I hope he isnt pouting about his playing time. The guy had two bad knee injuries, he was still the starter and then the concussion gave way to Sully and Shaggy.

Maybe his parents didnt travel to Sr Day.

He'll never play another game here, and he knows that.....

Were his parents attending the game? If not, I could somewhat understand his opting out. benefit of the doubt

He might be a decent depth addition for a team with a quality O-line, but it won't be at Iowa. Kaekert said last night he will enter the portal.

Hmmm. Imagine that. 34 posts in and someone has some actual information and not just blasting the guy without knowing anything about why he did that.
