Over 10,000 tickets still for sale?

I think I would wait until the announced crowd before deciding this will be an embarrassment on TV. The Ill. St. game didn't look like an embarrassment, and there are already more tickets sold for the Pitt game than there were for the opener.

Iowa fans are great. Iowa message board fan on the other hand...

Iowa message board fans are losers.

My thing is, if you are going to bash on Iowa at this point, when there is nothing to bash on, stay off the internet. Or keep that crap to yourself. Because I don't want to hear it. Not when this team is playing well and looking to have turned things around quite a bit.

I happen to agree with you. I thought you were being funny before, as the post is quite ironic.

Wish I lived closer. I would get to more games for sure. May sneak down this weekend if I can talk wifey into it.

Unfortunately she will then hold it offer my head for more date nights and concerts.

That doesn't sound too bad. But I don't know what the date nights involve, and I have no idea what sort of musical tastes she has.

I'd guess most people are scalping. IIRC, I read somewhere awhile back that Iowa's average ticket prices were in the top 10 most expensive. I'm too lazy to try to find it and don't have a link. I don't know if it still holds true. For most middle class fans, its borderline too expensive. For a family of 4, a $50 ticket, which is probably lower cost right now, is $200 minimum trip. That doesn't include parking, food, travel etc.

If you look on the Hawkeye Sports ticket site there are some seats available, but it's going to be pretty full. I don't think it's going to be embarrassing on TV.
A stadium can be half full and still look full on TV. Depends on where the gaps are and what the cameras do.

As I said last year, college remodels in most places should be downsizing significantly. And I know Barta has said he wants the north end zone remodel to keep Kinnick at 70,000 minimum, but that may not be wise...unless ticket prices drop dramatically.

But I'll be there Saturday night, and I hope the place is close to full. It'll be my first night game at Kinnick, and I hope the Iowa Athletic Department makes it enjoyable, but most of all I hope the Hawkeyes do.

It's all "woulda coulda shoulda" but it seems you could offset a drop in ticket prices with an increase in seats available. Too bad the university didn't have more foresight back in the day as Kinnick could've been as it was originally designed.

Saturday will be a blast regardless, but be careful out there.

I've never scalped tix before. Probably buy some fakes and be pretty pissed off with no recourse.

I heard this was a problem several years ago but haven't people complain about it lately.

I almost had to sell One Direction tickets this summer when Zane left. Don't ask, it almost crushed my daughters entire existence. :)

Hawkit on the Iowa board? Get board on the national board?

GD you guys, get off your asses and start buying some freaking tickets. I am a season ticket holder of 4, and I really don't want buy anymore.

Well now, that's settled. I guess I'll buy a plane ticket and have my car shipped home because you say so. One ticket, $2k total bills, damn the torpedoes I'm there, thanks for setting me straight!

Exactly. Or don't call yourself a Hawkeye. It isn't my fault you left the state and as far as I am concerned, I don't care if you ever come back.

IMO It has more to do with other factors than the product on the field.
1. Game Day Costs - We spent $270 for a hotel in Iowa city, 4 tickets were $320, Parking will be $30 minimum, gas will be $75, food will be $200 - Without alcohol it is a $900 weekend!!
2. Length of game - The TV timeouts are killing the game. I went to the Iowa hs playoffs and hs basketball championship weekend for the past 25 years. I didn't go last year, because I can't handle all the breaks. It has totally taken away any flow of the game.
3. Wifi! Let's face it we are married to our phones. No Wifi for 4-5 hours is hard on many people
4. When I can sit in BWW or Sports Bar and watch 5 or 6 games on TV and the Iowa game is right in front of me. I have atmosphere, WIFI, food, bevarage, and during TV timeouts I can scan the other games, etc..
How the F is no WiFi for 3.5 hours a big deal? Why do people need fricken WiFi at sporting events? Is the game that boring? When I'm at a game I don't even think about my phone until maybe halftime when I check my texts.

Chill. It's only Tuesday, and not like the Hawks have beaten even one accomplished team.
Yes, they look improved and motivated.
People on the fence for this game until the ISU result have plenty of time to buy tickets, including at the stadium on Saturday night.
It's entertainment. Its a game. It's big business involving big money with huge payrolls. Disagree that spectators or fans 'owe' the program their butts in the seats.
FYI: I bought 6 tickets to this game, taking off Friday afternoon from work, and will be traveling a good distance to get there, including 2 nights lodging.
Go Hawks

Good man.

I don't get the other guy complaining about spending 2K? So you leave the state to get a better job, but that better job cant afford you to spend 2K to go to a Hawkeye game? Lol, that makes no sense.

Might not be as big of an issue if they had close to real time score updates on the scoreboard. Way back when they would announce scores but those days are replaced by the smile cam and 'historic Kinnick stadium brought to you by '

Did I read that a stadium could look fuller than the actual attendance by how the cameras show the crowd? Wonder if that could influence opinions on actual attendance at games.

I don't really care about other scores while I'm in kinnick. I understand everyone is different.

I like pulling up a box score during the game. I do that for road games, but it doesn't work in Kinnick.

I criticize a lot about the fans but never about their attending or not attending the game. My general criticism is on their lack of accurate data when explaining what they are so angry about. :)
I don't either.....except for those that whine about attendance, yet don't go to the games themselves (and I'll bet there are a few in this thread).

If I can find a relatively cheap ticket (or two, for my dad), I'll be there with bells on. But right now I'm looking at spending 25% of my income this month on grad school applications. So.

they have done a ton of work to upgrade service. Talked to a verizon dude a while back and he said it will be MUCH better now.

Also saw a couple tweets from UI recently regarding it. They put up a tower between the baseball field and Kinnick and then they are putting up little deals on poles around kinnick as well to help with improve service.

I got 2 boys in college a wife that loves to spend money and a daughter who has inherited her mom's passions. I get back for one and this year it's minny

Things were improved in game one. Probably a combination of increased coverage and low attendance.

Kids happened to me. Was a season ticket holder for a few years and then a 3-game package and now have 3 kids (6, 4, and 1) and I'm just not going to take most of a weekend to leave them. When they get old enough, would love to take the entire family if it were cheaper.

It wasn't great for me, but it was better. Most games my phone is a brick. ATT.

By the way the new cell tower by the practice center had ZERO affect on my cell phone. Still take five minutes for a text to go through if it does at all.

To each their own, extreme situation what if there is a game that impacts whether Iowa makes the championship game or a big upset or ISU with a big win or a big loss, I have an interest.
