Wieskamp doesn't look any stronger, made a few threes, but still was weak under the basket and when he tripped in front of Luka there was no foul.

Patrick is almost Garza's height and is a big mismatch for opponents.

The lineup is fine as is. Certainly you aren't benching Wieskamp for Patrick.

If you entertained the idea of starting PM then the best scenario would be moving Connor to point and bringing Bohannon off the bench.

No, don't start P-Mac, but even with the outstanding 3-pt. shooting from Weiskamp yesterday, his overall game doesn't seem a bit better than when he was a freshman. He still seems weak with the ball inside, still gets shoved around on rebounds and drives, and this competition isn't exactly impressive.

Joe W. is a great Iowa kid. I appreciate everything he's done for the Hawkeyes, but right now, today, the player I see looks like a solid Big Ten guy but far from an All-American. And the NBA talk? I just don't see it. Maybe Joe will catch fire when the big boys match up with the Hawkeyes, and that would be awesome.

Wieskamp had the 2nd highest team WS/40 and 3rd highest PER last season. Any talk of benching him is absent any knowledge of how the game works.
Yeah but he was highly recruited and since he’s not B1G player of the year that means he sucks because we have unrealistic expectations.

Give him some time. He will get it together and be a solid player.

Kind of an odd suggestion after JW just dropped 16. Patrick is great for depth. Let’s see how he performs against a step up in competition.
This, and I'm not convinced yet that Pmac could handle a bunch more minutes especially when the level of competition steps up. He seems gassed at the free throw line in both games.....

you want to talk about Weiskamp being weak under the basket then what would you say about Patrick? He has gotten pushed around underneath on the boards and few times in the paint he hasn’t been strong either. Not throwing Patrick under the bus but those aren’t his strong points but to say Patrick should start over joe it’s ironic reasons listed are Patrick’s biggest weaknesses in his game right now. JW is a better shooter, defender and rebounder. Reason he was 3rd team all conference last year.

I think as good as this team is that Joe W has simply become "the whipping boy". We always seem to have one guy who gets the majority of the grief. You know we must be pretty good when the current whippee was on the all freshman team, and then last year was third team all BIg, and He's the problem.....

Its a pretty big stretch to be bitching about Joe for missing a few close shots where there was allot of contact.

Hes rebounding and shooting well from 3.

I have to laugh at this post, but it's entirely true...every year there's always a player that doesn't live up to Iowa fans "standards" and is the topic of criticism. Whether it's Josh Oglesby, Dom Uhi, Brady Ellingson, and last year Cordell Pemsl.
I guess it's just become a Hawkeye tradition that is unfortunately a result of a program that has not fulfilled Iowa fans expectations....

Patrick has come a long way since last year for sure, but let's not put him in the starting lineup just yet. I remember him running around the court last year looking like a newborn foal learning how to walk! He's now filled out a little and just needs time to get used to it!

I have to agree with OP. Weezy is weak. He’s a junior and still can’t finish at the rim. I was laughing at Settles when he was stating how much stronger Weezy is this year!
PMac is a complete mismatch at 6’10 and drives the ball and finishes! He’s great at the front of the press!
It really doesn’t matter who starts for Fran because he can easily go 10 deep this year!
Our best lineup that seems to gel in the first two games has been JT, Fredrick, PMac, Keegan and Luka!

I'm not knocking Patrick. He's an energy guy and does a lot of good things when he's in the game. My question was simply, "Was he a good FT shooter in HS?" There have been a lot of comments regarding his shooting mechanics overall and while I believe he is rushing his 3 point shot at times, that shouldn't be the case at the foul line. Yet, he's only shooting 50% from the line and 17% from three.

I agree with all of this post except for you have to sub CMc for Keegan.

That’s our best lineup.

Pretty sure the object of the game is to score more points then the opponent...I mean it's 2020 so things could have changed.......

So then you must agree that metrics about win shares generated and offensive efficiency are important to that?

The last thing I would do is change anything in the lineup until Nunge is back and acclimated. With this many really good players, it's going to take a lot more time to find roles for all of them. Don't look for a problem when their isn't one.

I am good with him coming off the bench this year. He has really showed some stuff the first couple games and looks good but he might be the perfect 15 minute a game guy right now. Come in and give a spark
