I hope the crowd showers him with love.Patrick says he’ll be in uniform We’d.
He looks about 42 in that picThat picture above certainly doesn't look like he is ready to play.
Why wouldn’t they?I hope the crowd showers him with love.
I agree with this. Patrick off the bench for limited minutes, at least for a few games, sounds great. Tonight we were fortunate that Maryland doesn't have large guys at 4/5. Patrick's return might cut into DIx's minutes most, and he has been very good. I want CMac on the court a lot, but not 40 min.Whenever he comes back I hope they keep the same starting 5 from the last 4 games.
And it’s from Jon Rothstein who is a creep"The Family Business" not a good look.
Little too much family business going on at the U of I.
Let’s play him off the bench pleasePatrick says he’ll be in uniform We’d.
He has to back up the 4 spot. When he does come back I am not sure who you take minutes from? Sandfort is playing his best ball and Dix has been playing some great minutes. His passing, ball control and defense have all been better then what Patrick provides.
Maybe silver lining from a bball perspective was Patrick was getting too many minutes and this now changes and will be better for both he and the team to cut them back some. As others stated I like Connor in starting lineup and way sandfort is playing not sure how he’s not first guy off the bench right now. Besides shooting sandfort is also a better rebounder which team lacks at times when kris or rebraca aren’t in. Today he led the team with 7 boards. Be nice depth wise to get Patrick back but will be very curious how Fran works him back in when the time comes. When he does come back I am not sure who you take minutes from? Respectfully, have you had, or been close to someone that suffers from, anxiety? Why is with the team if he's having anxiety issues?
Seems like he'd be removed from the situation in general if it's affecting him.
And I understand there could be a myriad of issues causing one anxiety but being in front of 10k+ people specifically watching you is interesting.
Whatever, we can use him when he's ready.
True. Unique to each individual in terms of treatment as well. A strong support system is often key to a successful recovery; it appears that he has that.Respectfully, have you had, or been close to someone that suffers from, anxiety?
I have several family members, including myself, that have been or are currently being treated for depression/anxiety. It's different in every one of them.
Some feel anxious all the time, like my Dad, who lived in practically a constant state of worry. Others feel fine most of the time but have panic attacks. Anxiety can be mild or severe - in the same person.
I'm sure he is getting lots of advice, counseling and some meds - hope it helps him.
Agree. Keep it low key with minimal minutes, and preferably after a loss. Social media will be brutal if he comes back with great fanfare, plays a bunch of minutes and the team loses to end a winning streak. That's pretty much the last thing he needs. If anxiety is the issue, probably not a great idea to publicly announce Pat's return at all,... When he's ready, just have him suit up and come in off the bench for some minutes...
He has to back up the 4 spot.
Its the only thing that makes sense.

It doesn't have to be after a loss, but even with limited minutes, if his return coincides with the end of a winning streak the knives will be out.I wouldn't worry about waiting until after a loss,.. I'd just keep his minutes short and then proceed slowly from there for future games...

Well my hope is that we don't have to find out which one of us is right. 🙃Not if Fran keeps his minutes in check...
No, which is why I was curious.Respectfully, have you had, or been close to someone that suffers from, anxiety?

Depends on what makes him "anxious", doesn't have to be performance or crowdsIf anxiety is the issue, probably not a great idea to publicly announce Pat's return at all,... When he's ready, just have him suit up and come in off the bench for some minutes...
If it was any other player not family wouldn't you just gradually work him into the rotation? You don't want to break up.the current chemistryMaybe silver lining from a bball perspective was Patrick was getting too many minutes and this now changes and will be better for both he and the team to cut them back some. I'm thinking it's going to be hard for Fran not to insert him right back into the starting 3 spot if not immediately then sometime in the near future. He has to back up the 4 spot.

Yes 👆 coming off the bench will reduce his stress and will allow him to be more effective.Maybe silver lining from a bball perspective was Patrick was getting too many minutes and this now changes and will be better for both he and the team to cut them back some. I posted in another thread, Sandfort is better in EVERY statistical category except rebounds - and when on a per minute basis Payton is better at that too. So Sandfort should be in front of Patrick. As for Patrick as a sub for Murray, why? As I just stated, Sandfort is a better defender and rebounder and tougher under the basket.Maybe silver lining from a bball perspective was Patrick was getting too many minutes and this now changes and will be better for both he and the team to cut them back some.
