Penn State Hatred

I didn't hear anyone hating on PSU, for what it's worth. Just a lot of cheering for the Hawks. Let's not generalize about Iowa fans as a whole. And let's not pretend that there isn't a TON of hatred out there for Iowa -- far more than for any other program, including PSU. Anyone who heard the thunderous boos and cheers when Gilman lost in the semis understands this very clearly.

And let's not pretend that PSU fans don't have every bit as much hatred for Iowa as Iowa fans might for PSU. They were booing and cheering against our guys all weekend (in beteeen that insane "we are" chant, which comes up every few minutes).

I'm not condoning hatred of any kind from anyone, but let's keep a little perspective here. And let's stay away from being hypercritical of Iowa fans; haters all over the country are doing plenty of that already, and have done so for decades.

I don't hate Iowa. To me it depends on the kid. I did root hard against Gilman because I think his antics are disrespectful of his opponents and of this great sport. I also rooted very hard for Cory Clark to win because he has always seemed to be a real warrior, overcoming adversity and carries himself with class and dignity at all times. Of course, I don't know these kids personally and never will, Gilman could be as nice as Mr. Rogers when he's not in the arena. However, I can only go on what I see as a fan.

The hate of some isn't necessarily for the PSU wrestling program, but the institution itself for what happened. Some is for some PSU fans who tend to be sore winners and think they need to come here to prove something. Many respect the PSU wrestling program, but respect doesn't mean like. And for those saying stop, stop telling others what to do.

Former Air Force Academy football coach said "All I ask of my players is that they be humble in victory and a man in defeat." Many fans should keep that in mind regarding their own behavior/attitude.

I started swaying from hatred to making it more FUN!

So, with psu abusing that word this is who I personify with penn state wrestling:

And this is Cael:

Fun.

Time for this to stop... I heard so many people at the arena last night so focused on hating Penn State, that they barely even took the time to enjoy Clark's amazing victory. In my opinion sports are much more fun when you focus your energy on rooting for your own team rather than rooting against another team. We are Iowa Wrestling fans so let's root for Iowa wrestlers, and not waste our time and energy hating Penn State wrestlers...
It's no different than all the year's people hated Iowa. They dont give a flyin f why should you?

Agree I didn't hear that either.
