Still not quite sure how Nunge isn't even in ESPN's database. Do they only evaluate based on certain camps that he didn't attend?

Nunge is not in the ESPN data base because he don't play for an AAU Nike or Addidas team. Same reason you don't see many Kingdom hoops type players in the ESPN database. Nobody is seeing him play. No way to accurately rank him since he is not playing against the best. That does not mean he is not a good player. Just means Pocket City, his AAU team as far as I can tell. Is not affiliated with Nike or Addidas. Honestly I have never heard of his AAU team and I follow AAU pretty close. BTW Attack is Nike, Stormers are addidas. That is how they know Wiescamp and them.

Ah ha...that would explain how ESPN's rankings for players tends to be a little bit better. I think Cook was in the 70s for Rivals and 38th for ESPN.

Never knew that. Interesting. Also is why ESPN's recruiting services aren't terribly reliable IMO.

Thanks for this info. I've always thought ESPN was more accurate than other sites on some players and out to lunch on other players. This explains why.

Both Garza and McC the younger fell, Luka by quite a bit, after committing to Iowa. Still, getting two more four stars, one from DC, is still a good recruiting year for Iowa.

Looks like ISU has the 2nd best class in the Big 10. Interesting.

Nunge is the guy in this recruiting class I think ends up having the best BB career at Iowa.

It's not just that simple. Barnstormers just got Addidas deal this year. What got them that deal is the team and how well it competed against the top competition. Solid program that competes well in the top AAU Tourney's. Huge reward for that program to be recognized, but that's not why our guys are ranked. Exposure yes, shoe deals not so much.

Fran can recruit! But in order to get 2 in the top 100 we needed one of them to be his son.
I think within 4 years we'll see that Nunge SHOULD have been in that range as well. If so it really doesn't matter where he's at now does it. You don't get to be in the running for player of the year in Indiana, by being some 2 star smuck.

Make it to the sweet 16 every other year and we would get the recruiting bump on players. Proof is in the pudding, not on paper!
That may be true, but thats not what these rankings are supposed to be about. Remember there supposed to be ranking the kid who's in high school, not the program he signs with. Call it false advertising or whatever, these so called professionals are selling that their ranking these players by their past achievements. This just shows that its as much a popularity contest, which we all ready know.

Works for me.. If we bring in two Top 100's every year, I think our program will be in pretty decent shape. ;)

For certain! And how great it will be! ;)

If Fran can sustain this(and I believe he will for the next 2 years), then we will essentially have 8 top 100 players on the roster in 3 years. If he continues that, then We will be in the Sweet 16 every year!

I could understand rankings being influenced by which schools offer a kid, but where the kid chooses to go should not impact his ranking. I think that Louisville offered Luka, but he chose Iowa. That probably caused his ranking to go down, whereas he would have probably gotten a bump up if he chose Louisville. I don't honestly care, but it is wrong, as kceasthawk explained. Might give Luka a little more incentive to prove something...
