I loved his demeanor! It’s been a good long while since we had that kind of energy and confidence, kick there ass on the court and we can be friends after the game.
To give Tony a break, he has only played PG at Iowa for 1/2 a year. I think he may improve in that aspect. As I mentioned elsewhere, his 3 pt shooting is still suspect. This year he is 2/3 but last year he was 23%. In the B1G they will start sagging off him like they did with Connor last year - until he proves he can shoot it!
We do need his aggressiveness tho. Just improve in the assists when driving a bit tho.

So I read that a Seton Hall fan yelled something at Perkins he didn't like (he said "a word")..no other details however this is really what fired him up!
If Perkins was a lights-out 3-point shooter he would not be at Iowa any longer, he'd be getting paid to play.
Last year he made 32% of this 3's, not 23%. He was 35% in conference play. If he's anywhere in the 35-37% range, that is more than good enough to make opponents at least come out to guard him. Which is all he needs to be able to go to the basket. He is the second-most important player on the team behind Murray. What he does, no one else on the team can come close to replicating. For the season, he is 2-5 on 3's, and was great to see him get to the line 8 times against Seton Hall. I have been super impressed with his growth as a player.
His assist percentage (% of teammates made field goals he assisted on while on the floor) is very good (35.0) and his turnover percentage (% of his possessions that end with a turnover) is very low (at 9.7 this year). As a point of comparison, his turnover percentage is lower than JBo's last year (who was excellent at protecting the ball). And Toussaint's turnover percentage last year was near 25%. Perkins' assist rate to date (3 games in) is higher than any Iowa player last year. I don't think an assist rate of 35.0 is sustainable for an entire year, but he's playing very well.
If he plays anywhere close to this for an entire season, it's easily the best year for an Iowa guard under Fran. He does it on both ends of the court.

I assume you are talking about when he got T'd up. I have not rewatched the game but when it happened, someone reported, he was yelling to the crowd, not the ref who was between Tony and the hecklers. I felt the ref thought he was yelling at him, since I believe that what Tony yelled was "and one". If that is what he yelled I can see why the ref thought it was directed at him

Did you watch the second half of the last season? You know where he was inserted in the lineup and it turned the season around? Remember that B10 tournament championship?
He averaged 7.4 pts, 1.6 assist and .9 turnovers. He's a fine player but his antics acting like he's superman are annoying. C Clark is annoying with her swearing at the refs and trying to one up people as well but she backs it up.

He might very well get another one this season, but putting up 18 points against that defense is better than just fine….very obvious.
I know you are a Homer so I won't respond. If he proves to be a world beater this season, I'll admit it. I forsee a lot of Tony frustration this season. Hope I'm wrong.
I suspect, you being a hater, that as soon as he has one off game you’ll be “I told you so!” Or maybe you won’t even wait until halftime.
I certainly don’t like the technical fouls that he has committed. And I think he will get those under control. But I also can see that he is a tremendous player.
Seems like Perkins has always been a problem for Illinois. Good player.
