Wtf - Hegseth would bring the warrior ethos back to the U. S. military. Eliminating DEI and woke policies will certainly help with overall morale and military recruiting.

Yes. Do I think that he will surround himself with people who will cover areas that he doesn't know enough about; procurement for example; yes. Do I think that he understands soldiers better than any other Sec Def has; absolutely. He has the energy and knowledge to reform that dinosaur. He has already correctly identified the problems in the Pentagon and now he needs to get after it. Hegseth's nomination didn't happen in a vacuum. All of the things he is talking about; DEI crippling the military, ROE being completely ridiculous in combat zones as JAG officers and bureaucrats are involved. ROE (Rules of Engagement) couldn't shoot at an Iraqi insurgent, until he shot at you. Night missions stopped in Afghanistan (safest for US soldiers) because Karzai didn't want them, the list goes on and on and on. Missions approved by JAG officers instead of the commanders on the ground. All of this had been talked about at length by former military officers and military experts. I am sure he will surround himself with those people.

I hope he gets appointed. I think he's one of the least qualified to ever be nominated for that spot. I think most of trump's cabinet choices are very weak. Not all, but most.
