Not a good start for Pitt. Gave up a 50+ yard run and just missed a field goal. Syracuse winning 7-3. Iowa really needs Pitt to keep winning.
I hope Pitt does well but Iowa needs to keep winning, they don't need Pitt to do anything. Not a good start for Pitt. Gave up a 50+ yard run and just missed a field goal. Syracuse winning 7-3. Iowa really needs Pitt to keep winning.

The only thing on our resume that will matter will be the number of wins.Well duh... but if Iowa does keep winning, they'll need a strong non-conference win to make a case for the playoff committee. Pitt can be that win. Thus, Iowa needs a Pitt win along with the inherent need to win its own games.

13 would get us in, period. Anything less and we're out.
It's that simple.
Exactly. Some people have a hard time understanding this. The only thing on our resume that will matter will be the number of wins.

Is it just me, or does the Carrier Dome look like a miserable place to play a football game?
What happens if Pitt looses again, will that work against Iowa ?Pitt is 6-1 with a couple late field goals for wins. If they keep winning, it will be that "quality" non-conference win Iowa needs.

Pitt has pretty much a patchwork offense.. As a Pitt fan we are frustrated.. but Duzz has had a knack of changing things up at halftime.. When Conner went down.. it kind of changed the whole identity of the O. We were also missing our starting safeties today... Tough stretch for Pitt v UNC, Duke, ND, Louisville, and the Canes (not so tough)... I think we go 9-3.. and stay ranked about 20......Big rumor: James Conner may return for the ND game.
Actually it's not just a matter of simple deduction. Is it really that simple if we end up with 4 or more undefeated teams this year? In the modern era, your resume matters. It would not shock me in the least to see a 12-1 Alabama sneak past a 13-0 Iowa. Or a few other scenarios.
Jesus guys, it doesn't hurt for Pitt to keep winning, and I think it's at least somewhat relevant, at the very least, if we do get to 13, it could help with seeding.
I hope that you are right......but if you sit and think about it, can you tell me with 100% certainty that undefeated Utah, TCU, (or Baylor), Florida St. and a 1 loss SEC Champion Alabama don't get in over undefeated Iowa? Are you FOR SURE, because I am not.The only thing on our resume that will matter will be the number of wins.

Iowa needs to take 1 at a time, the odds of getting to the big ten final and beating OSU are slim anyway.

Pitt. lost at home, there goes that quality non-conference win Iowa needed, now what ?Pitt is 6-1 with a couple late field goals for wins. If they keep winning, it will be that "quality" non-conference win Iowa needs.
