1st- He is going to be really good. I see people on here arguing about his minutes versus Keegan's, where I think the issue right now is Nunge's minutes. Both Keegan and PMac can play the 4 so I think they should be eating his minutes with the way Nunge is playing right now. Just my opinion don't kill me.

2nd- At some point in his Iowa career, PMac is absolutely going to straight up Tom Chambers posterize someone. Dude can get up and is lanky as hell.

Thats all

We used to run plays for White to lob it up and he would slam it, couple of times a game. What has happened to that play? We never seem to run it anymore

Tom Davis use to run that backscreen lob/fake 3 point shot at least once a game out of their normal motion offense. Almost always a freebie 2 points. Might not be a bad idea to have that in your back pocket in a close game.

Isn't Nunge ostensibly backing up Garza?

I agree Patrick has the potential to be really good, but he's not there yet. Murray should get the lion's share of minutes off the bench.

Whitey absorbed a lot of contact getting free for and during those dunks. PMac is working to get to that level of physicality.

Jack’s been coming off the bench at the 4, and playing alongside Garza until Luka needs a break, then he slides over to the 5 and Murray comes in. Many here like the 2 big lineup; I myself am not a fan and think Jack should solely be backing up Luka, as Murray does need to see increased minutes, and Jack is a defensive liability guarding 4’s on the perimeter. Against bigger or less athletic lineups, we can get away with it

The two big line up costs us either Ke Murray, P McC or C McC, all of whom will better use the minutes than Nunge. Jack is starting to show some signs of understanding post play.

I just do not see what the coaches see in this big line up. Much rather see Keegan getting those minutes.

Nunge is the best rebounder on the team. When he's not in there the opponent makes a living on the offensive glass. The line for Nunge in the last game was 2-4 shooting and 1-1 from the FT line for 5 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist and 2 turnovers in 13 minutes of play. The combined line for PMac and Cmac in 43 minutes of play was 2-9 shooting for 5 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds with 1 turnover. Connor is already getting too many minutes and PMAC wasn't good at all last game.

Understood, but we want Garza taking the most shots here, and the offense has been designed to get him the ball. The offense when White played centered around his strengths, and those lobs were key. I think we see more of this next year when Luka is gone.

Could we use it when their big guy is out of the middle to guard Garza on the 3 pt line?

You'd think, I'm just wondering if it isn't something our current guards aren't good at. I've seen several Joe T lobs, that were painful. I remember them connecting on one the other game, but several have been way off. It could just be as simple as they want to post Garza up, or shoot the three with our perimeter guys who are (before Bohannon's Indiana night) all above 40%. Whereas when White was a Senior, we didn't have a single guy shooting over 40%.

And Pmac typically plays the 3/SF.....I really enjoy watching these two (Keegan/Patrick) in the game together with either Luka or Jack...With the Luka combination its a pretty dynamic front line for running the floot and scoring...with the Jack combination they are really long and quick in the half court defense.

Fran has options.....it will be interesting to see what his starting lineup is at Illinois assuming CJ is still sitting out and healing up.

This is what I have seen. Joe has thrown 2 and Jordan 1 that I recall where they had Nunge WIDE open for easy lob pass and they threw the ball ridiculously high for a lob.

I think you can look at multiple guys on the bench and make a case for them getting more PT. . Joe T., Ulis, Murray, PMac and Perkins close the athleticism gap with other teams significantly. Quickness matters despite what Fran thinks. The uber slow lineup is just not going to get it done.
Our scoring dropped off substantially in the second half, so I think there still needs to be a healthy mix of the guys you mentioned and the starters, but I agree

Hard to be critical of Luka, but he made some bad decisions in that stretch. No need for him to force the issue early in the shot clock when Joe T, Perkins and Murray on the floor. Joe T. will at least take it to the hoop vs. relying on a deep 3.

Garza isn’t used to having the opportunity to score in any scenario where he isn’t being fed the ball from the perimeter because none of our starting guards have the ability to get into the lane on a consistent basis. He will find that with Perkins and Toussaint, he gets a lot of open buckets when guys covering him go play help defense

Perkins is going to be a stud. I get flashbacks to Devyn Marble watching him slash to the hoop

This match-up on passes and plays like this with JoeT and PMac and also Ke Murray and PMac in other games has been fun to see, along with what seeing from Perkins and Ulis. Seems to be some good chemistry in our young guys. good times ahead!
They have promise for sure. Good thing we have Weiskamp and CJ still around until we find out if we have some more shooters down the road.

I think one issue with Patrick is that sometimes he is not under control when he drives & puts up shots; once he gets that down, look out

the guy is much more athletic than i realized and its nice to see him healthy & out there playing

and what's kinda funny is that sometimes Margaret gets on Fran because she does not think Fran is playing Patrick enough

You didn't realize that kid can jump to the moon and is almost Nunge's height?
I think, hope, last night opened the floodgates on his brain to realize he can go over most people.

And he posterized Henry on that dunk.
