Poor Beth, it only took what 2 years before…

1. We don't know who the hire is yet, or how they'll turn out
2. A lot of people were done with Fran and ready for a change.
3. Played by whom? She may have dodged a bullet if some of the DD stuff coming out of WVa is true.
4. Clark is suddenly going to cut off all contact with the women's program? Doubt it. Even if, you can't coattail her forever. Time moves on.

If Iowa had 4 million to use with regards to the MBB team, would the money be better spent with:

  • Firing Fran and buying him out
  • Keeping Fran and giving it to Fran to go and get some players

Keep in mind you only have 4 mil and considering by what is reported that he had 1 to 1.5 to work with for 2024-25.

The would not have the money if they kept Fran

typical post from the op. dumb too.
What the hell do you thing would have happened next year? Attendance would likely have dropped and we'd be in a worse situation. He should have been fired last year.
The far worse situation would have been to have fran back. The only way fran my have succeeded was to have beth force him to fire coaches and make a defensive change when she took the job. Fran reached his ceiling years ago and the problem is he didn't know it. He was too proud or narcissistic to make the change he needed to.
OP thinks that can't possibly be true because Fran being a head coach is smarter than everyone else. It's not possible for a coach to make mistakes.
Iowa's NIL position is a great deal due to fran's inability to do his other job well.

For the record, I don’t care that they fired Fran. Hell I didn’t watch them play much of this year anyway, I just know the next guys gonna be lambasted when he loses too. As will, Beth.
broken record

The OP is constantly criticizing people within the Iowa athletic program by stating it in third person.

It's the "Cult of Low Expectations Wing" of Iowa fandom.... should've kept Fran, should've kept Brian, should've kept Barta, shoule never EVER get rid of KF, because we're Iowa and to think we could ever do better is just wrong. Lol.

So you think Connor will be a hawkeye fan?
I don't know and I honestly couldn't care less and I don't know what on earth that could have to do with anything regarding the success of the MBB program moving forward. Lol.

I will say that the McCaffery family SHOULD be very thankful to the University of Iowa for giving Fran 15 years at the highest salary he's probably ever earned even though not once did he take the program to a Sweet Sixteen, not to mention giving two of their kids full rides/free college educations.

This whole narrative that Fran and his family were somehow wronged by the University of Iowa is beyond stupid. No P4/5 program in the country would've kept him anywhere close to as long as we did.

I am one of the biggest Hawkeye fans, and have been since graduating from Iowa in the nineties. I've also been a long-time supporter and advocate of McCaffrey as our coach. I think he's a great leader/mentor to his players and I love Fran's offensive scheme.

With that said, I, and MANY other fans, were ready for change! I've gotten to the same point of apathy for the mens basketball program as I do with Ferentz and football. Fran was too loyal to those old ass assistants who didn't bring much. He should have fired some of them and brought on an assistant who is a defensive guru. John Bielign did this and Michigan went to the Final Four. I believe Fran had the same potential, but he refused to change his philosophy–AND surround himself with assistants to help with his weakness–DEFENSE!

Bottom line, Fran wasn't changing after 15 years, we were not advancing beyond the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, and now we aren't even making the tournament again. Fran brought us back from the dead after shitty ass Lickliter, and we will always be grateful for that. But this FAN and ALUM wants BIG championships, Sweet 16s, and another Final Four!

Bludder and CC proved that Iowa could do it on the Women's side. George Raveling proved we could do it on the Men's side. Let's find the right coach to reinvigorate this program and our excitement for Men's Basketball!

OP…doesn’t care, OPs point is, once again the fans that are always pissed, will once again be pissed and Beth, is now in the crosshairs and it makes me chuckle….

And yes Fran had to go, but it won’t matter. The next won’t make fans happy either 🤷‍♂️ it’s the nature of the beast

First, nothing wrong with your general assessment. But I can assure you, the fans didn’t like George Ravelling and they didn’t like Lisa Bludder all that much a few years ago either 🤷‍♂️

Yes and true 🤷‍♂️ I’ll check in with you when the next coach loses. Talk about a broken record… I swear to God some people don’t even think when they say things.
So what exactly are you trying to prove? Moral superiority? Good lord your schtick is old and worn out, stfu and go back to telling everyone all the ins and outs of the womens team
