It is definitely the time when a certain segment of this board will complain about literally any QB they get.
Complain about the QB we get, or complain about them being coached to play like petrified zombies?
As long as Brian is gone, there is hope that there may be good QB evaluation. Kirk is still here, which might limit the upside
I trust Lester.
Whoever the QB is next year, I will have faith they’ll do a good job until they don’t. Iowa will have good QB play again. Hopefully in 2025.

Looks like Hank Brown from Auburn may be the leader in the clubhouse at QB. Went to same high school as Tim Lester. 6'4 208lbs. Was 27-43 for 400 yds and 6 tds last year with 2 starts. Seems to be mutual interest. Would have 3 years remaining. Tells me Lester is looking for a long term fix at QB, not something short term.
You are more likely to complain about any QB we get. Why do you think Lester would coach them to play like zombies ?
I could see them taking two QBs if one of them is a young guy like Brown, who would basically slide into Marco's spot on the roster.

Until proven differently, I think Lester is going to coach the QB to play exactly how KF tells him to coach the QB... with ball security and field position prioritized way way way more than actually making plays which... gasp... could result in a turnover.
KF's gameday coaching mindset is driven by fear of what could go wrong instead of looking for opportunities for what could go right, and regardless of who the OC is that's the mindset he wants instilled in our QBs.
With the 105 cap, I highly doubt the coaches will bring in two QB's.
What he meant to say is that we have an offense that is literally designed to make the punter the most important element in KFs "offensive" strategy.
Yeah, no one thinks Greg Davis, KOK or Brian Ferentz ran the offense, and no one thinks Lester is free to implement his game plan.

Ball security and field position awareness are priorities for every good coach.
Most teams have 5 scholarship QBs. Right now the Hawks have 1 in Sully plus a second with Jimmy Sullivan coming on board next season.
If you can't see the difference in how KF emphasizes those things over making plays compared to other coaches, I can't help you.

You could flip that and say that Iowa was only capable of that with arguably a top 3 RB in Iowa history. Let's not kid ourselves, if Iowa had a passing game, they would be warming up for the playoff.
They evidently root for Ferentz not the Hawkeyes.

I saw that. I believe there are 5 former Iowa QBs in the portal at the moment ... McNamara, Lainez, Resar, Labas, and Hogan.
QB's are the first to enter the portal. It will be increasingly more difficult to keep five on scholarship. In addition, Hawks may be looking at two in the 2026 class.
Not necessarily. Some are ruined before they even arrive. Take the last guy for instance.
Ferentz has the 14th best win/loss record among P4 teams over the past 10 years. Taking out covid year, averaging 8.9 wins a year.
When you root for Kirk, you root for the Hawks being very competitive.
