Possible Portal Targets Thread

Probably right, but not all of these kids are going to have elite landing spots
This' correct. By the time it's over there will be over 3,000 kids in the portal with only 700 spots for them. Hell, even if Iowa offers little to nothing in NIL they should still pull in some decent players. It's still a scholly to a B1G P5 school. Better than going FCS or D2 and get nothing, as well.

Iowa targets that have committed:

CB- Raion Strader to Auburn
LB- Ben Perry to UCLA
CB- Theran Johnson to Oregon
DT- Ansel Din-Mbuh to TCU
WR- Omari Kelly to Michigan State
QB- Daniel Kaelin to Virginia
CB- Chasen Johnson to SMU
QB- Miller Moss to Louisville
DT- RJ Jackson to UCF
S- Dillon Thieneman to Oregon
WR- Chase Sowell to Iowa State
QB- Connor Weigman to Houston
S- Cole Wisniewski to Texas Tech
IOL- Hunter Zambrano to Texas Tech

QB- Hank Brown to Iowa

1420 Radio today said as of now there are 2500 players in the portal with room for about 700. 😳😬. FCS teams are probably loving this.
Said this all along. 2/3 of these guys will never get the upgrade move they're hoping for. There simply aren't enough chairs in this game for all of these dudes. Stupidest thing ever this whole portal deal, and a lot of these kids are going to pay the price for jumping from one school to the next year after year.....

Air Noland entering the portal… it’s nuts how much movement is happening even for the top schools. Depth is gonna be an issues everywhere.
That is the one Iowa should go get. His high school film is solid, now he could be the next malichai Nelson

OT, but Auburn pulls in Stanford QB transfer Ashton Daniels, These types of moves even if money motivated are baffling.

These are the prospects which I’m very interested to see what interest/nil offers they receive. The guy was a top recruit that hasn’t played a down of college football, is he expecting to get an offer to compete for a back-up job a top flight program, or is he willing to go somewhere that is a step down in hopes to play right away?

Does tOSU hand the keys over to Sayin or are they going to go after a top flight transfer? That’s a stacked room that is churning guys, many thought Kienholz would be in the portal by now as well.

They also have #1 overall QB recruit Tavien St.Claire coming in the spring.
Gotta be counting on saylin and St Claire next year unless kreinholtz comes on or they buy a portal QB.

One has to wonder what KF and BF saw in these guys to bring them on board to Iowa.
The Hawks weren't the only team to offer any of them. Except for Cade, though, they may be deficient in the mental part of the game. When Barnes was discussing Lester's approach to recruiting QBs, he specifically mentioned the "between the ears" aspect. It looks like BF may not have paid sufficient attention to that when recruiting, and then was unhappy when his QBs couldn't grasp the offense or read the defense.

Disagree. Many of these players would be cut with the 105-man roster limit. Better to put your name in the portal and maybe catch on with another power team. If not, then they go to a lower-level team. However, if they don't enter the portal, they may lose even those lower-level opportunities as they fill their rosters with freshmen.

I think that's right, but even without the new roster cap many of these scholarship portal entries fail to find new FBS homes.

My point was "the portal" itself is the stupidest thing ever, and many of those kids are still going to pay the price. Lets say the earlier poster was correct and there are 2500 players in the portal and only 700 openings. There are a good number of players that aren't even going to get MAC level offers, and they sure as hell aren't getting paid either. Lets say instead of joining the mass exodus, you're at a P4 school and you go the route Jay Higgens did. You learn behind a great player for 2 or 3 years, and then you use all the resources, training, maturity, an development, and turn yourself into an AA, a NFL draft choice and use all that training and become a solid pro. Who made the best decision?

We are officially in on Beau Pribula from Penn state…interesting to see if A. He has any interest and B. What that does to Sullivan.
