Possible Portal Targets Thread

Article on TOS with his name in the headline. It’s a pay for article so idk if he will schedule a visit but I’m assuming they wouldn’t write an article if there was no smoke

Going from Sullivan, Lainez, and Resar to Sullivan, Pribula, and Brown would be a good sign.

Get a couple OL and WR targets and we will make some good steps to getting Lester the guys he needs.

For reference to the headwinds Iowa faces, I read Iowa isn’t anywhere close to the $9.7 million & 18th rank, from the one list that has been going around. This from TOS.

Barnes now following Jaden Williams DT Wyoming, and Ayden Knapik Tackle Idaho.

Money ball plays now. we just aren’t getting much interest from the big names.
Did Ethan Onianwa ever actually visit?

Hopefully we can get some visits over the Christmas break.

That site has made up numbers, even the ISU guy said they're fake and inflated

This looks to be about Beau maybe scheduling a visit or coming to Iowa. This would be great news, but I'm speaking out of my ass, so anyone feel free to correct me.

Edit, yup Iowa is in the mix

I assumed the same, but probably for the same reason. That reason is the picture of him in the “carrot tweet.”

It almost certainly has something to do with. Whether encouraging, or not

Might be why Barnes is following more small school low NIL cost players, going hard to get Beau? Would Sully stay and fight or would he bounce?
Hopefully we get him, would draw more potential WRs I would think… LFG!

Looks like Missouri is going after him hard, they have dominated the portal. In short, we won’t get him IMO

If they have $400k to sign Tony Perkins, I’m guessing they can outspend us on a QB.

Who knows though, playing for the staff/culture in Iowa City may be a bigger sell than a bigger bag while having to endure Drinkwitz.

Not to mention SEC vs B1G Missouri is prolly a better offense haven’t really studied them yet. And certainly gonna have more athletes better chance at NFL at least pre TL era

He will be big dollars and I can't believe he's interested in Iowa, with us returning a QB starter, his backup and a portal signee already. We don't have deep pockets. WR, DB, OT and DL are our greatest needs, in that order. Before another QB.

That was last years cash, no idea what they have this year, but they have lost a ton of players to the portal. I'm not sure their coffers are that deep.

Sounds like he was in Columbus yesterday, that’s tough to contend with.
He turned down Oklahoma to visit Iowa, so that's huge. I have to think the path to PT is much easier at Iowa, and it is not as if Iowa hasn't turned out lineman to the NFL. However, if OSU wants him, you are probably correct.

OT for this thread, but Ty Thompson has entered the portal, but he is still planning on playing in their bowl game.
Interesting. A year ago, he was the guy everyone here was drooling over. He was rumored to have an interest in Iowa, but with no OC in place, nothing came of it.

He threw a grand total of 11 passes last year for Tulane, completing 6 of them, while playing a backup role to Darian Mensah (who also entered the portal, and has committed to Duke),

Are we still interested?

I highly doubt Iowa is, the only thing I would say is that mensah turned out to be one of the top portal targets putting up really good numbers. I would take Thompson if nothing else as a lotto ticket and insurance

Hawk's hit rate isn't very high. Some schools seem to have a formula for signing a lot of players but also a propensity to turn over a lot. Hard to build team continuity that way.
I actually like the strategy of retention over seeking upgrades everywhere but they have to “win” the portal when they identify the gaps. They haven’t done that imo.

It's pretty wild the amount of turnover some of these teams have. Missouri has some pretty big hits, but they lost a pretty solid chunk to the portal. Wisky already has 9 incoming transfers with two at the QB position. Then you have Debbie, with one huge get in the portal, 2 withdrawn, and a big chunk leaving.

Sounds like pribula is the only current target at qb and it’s expected that there is going to be another portal commit soon from Hawkeye of the storm interview with Eliot.
