Thought I would bring this back from the pre-seed thread, along with comparisons of who wrestled to their seed, and each wrestlers bonus points. Just something to look at:
Iowa: 3 Below, 5 Above, 2 Same
PSU: 5 Below, 3 Above, 2 Same
OSU, 4 Below, 4 Above, 2 Same
NEB: 3 Above, 3 Below, 4 Same...and scored most bonus points overall

Interesting to look at bonus points.
Nebraska lead the way follow by PSU and OSU.

Imagine if Gilman & Stoll had wrestled to seed.
i blv that gilman got more points at 3rd than he would have got at 2nd. he did pick up a fall and a MD on the backside (downer there is that pissu got 2nd, and g-man had no shot at #1)

Gilman got more points in the wrestle backs than if he won the semis and lost in the finals.

He would have got 7 team points for winning a semifinal match.

For pinning the Indiana kid he got 3+.5+2=5.5 (placement points for 4th, a half point for advancing a round in consis, 2 points for a pin)

3rd place match was 1+1=2 (1 placement point for 3rd, 1 point for the major)

So 7.5 vs 7

Not a big deal obviously, just one of those interesting facets of tournament wrestling.

Has anyone broke down the "extra" points that several wrestlers got from getting cupcake 1st round match ups v. others receiving a 1st round bye. Fwiw, I am pretty sure that Iowa had 0 team points until Cooper won his 1st match...at 157! By that time, Iowa was in 14th place with 0 points, while PSU had 10 team points on the board and virtually every other team had some points.

It was my feeling that Iowa did a nice job of picking up bonus points in this tourney, unlike some in the previous years, BUT...it didn't seem to me that Iowa had as many "mismatches" in the 1st round, where the potential for bonus points is higher, generally speaking.
