Post Play Next Year

Got it. We dont have Luka Garza II waiting in the wings, not many teams do. I absolutely agree that Nunge is not a pure "5." He is certainly tall enough to play the 5, and has minimal post moves, but is not very thick or heavy. But we have to get our best guys on the floor. I just dont think we can expect to grab a high caliber center on the grad market. If we do, then I will be surprised and take the pie in the face.

Ogundele will need to be ready, its now or never. He wont even have to score, AT ALL. Just play decent defense, grab some rebounds and set a few picks. Probably 10 minutes per game.

Nunge hasn't struggled to defend the post at any time this year that I can think of.

Hes struggled allot trying to guard on the wing in the zone.

Iowa will get nothing but improvement from the 5 spot defensively next year with Jack.

The offense will be totally different.

Its not going to run through the post anymore.

Iowas going to be able to run 5 out with guards attacking the rim, high screen and roll action and allot of motion.

What do you guys think we need from Josh? How can you evaluate him in the limited minutes he’s played this year?
I think he’s going to surprise a lot of you next year. It’s not like we need him to be a huge scoring threat.
Agreed. We are almost a year from next season and this year doesn't count for him anyway.
His chest has gotten smaller since he arrived and Fran does have an eye for talent.

He will be fine.

Nunge will be one of our better players for the next couple of years. Next year, it will be mostly at the 5, although he is probably more of a natural 4. Unless he makes unbelievable progress, I don't see Big O contributing much next year, but who knows in future years. Hawks are definitely a big man short, and I hope the coaches can find one in the grad transfer portal, because I really like the rest of the team coming back.

I don’t understand this thinking that josh o cant contribute next year. He’s behind the best player in the country and another very good backup. Nobody has any idea what kind of production to expect from him next year because he doesn’t see the floor this yr. Nobody expected either of the murrays to play any minutes this yr and now look what keegan has been doing! I have no idea if josh o will be productive next yr, but i would bet fran has a pretty good idea and will plan accordingly. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see josh o have some success next yr tho
