Personally, I don't think he is a 1st Rounder in 2019, but I hope he proves me wrong....well maybe in 2020. But, there is no way he is 7th in the BIG.

7. Nate Stanley -- Iowa

Last season: 196-351 (55.8 percent), 26 TD and 6 INT

Iowa will have a reliable starter back this season in Stanley, though he doesn't have the high ceiling of some of the players ranked below him on this list.

Stanley earned the starting job for the first time last season and performed well, throwing for 2,437 yards and 26 touchdowns. Though he only completed 55.8 percent of his passes, Stanley only threw six interceptions in a full 13 games.

The Hawkeyes don't have a superstar at quarterback, but they have a player who will throw for around 200 yards per game and take care of the ball. For a run-first offense that also relies on its defense, that's a positive.

Seeing as how the URL is called "clickondetroit.com" I'd say this is clickbait. Truth be told, the B1G may prove to have the best QB lineup in the country this year. OSU, MSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Penn State all have good QBs, and the bottom half of the league isn't devoid of talent or intrigue at the position. But if Nate Stanley progresses from year one to year two as the starter, I don't know that any of them are that far ahead of him -- if at all. The eventual stats may not prove it, but there's a reason why our media nemesis Colin Cowherd said Stanley may be the best QB in college football this year. He's got the attention of every NFL scout in America.

As others have noted, Stanley is really poised to take a big step forward this season as long as he is reasonably well protected. He nearly tied the school TD pass record in his 1st season behind an OL hit hard by injury under a 1st year OL coach in a new offense under a new OC throwing to a mostly young and inexperienced group of receivers led by a new WR coach. Stanley's production was remarkable when you consider the change environment and new personnel in which he was operating.

Better pocket presence and a little more mobility together with more experienced position coaches and receivers -- it all points to a positive move forward.

Yeaaaahhh that statement about Nate couldn't be any more off base; Stanley has the tool-set to eventually become a 1st rounder, he has the physicality and arm strong that every NFL scout looks for. Every single list I see Hornibrook on but don't see Stanley, it makes me cringe. Then again, I did just look at SIs top 100 list and Noaf Fant wasn't even on it. These are good examples of talking heads throwing together a 'best of 2018' list and having zero clue who they are even missing out on.

Wow, that's a mouthful but also a very good point.

They totally undersold Clayton Thorson ... and they totally oversold Shea Patterson. Obviously, it made me cringe to see Hornibrook ahead of Stanley too ... but the success of the Badgers is apt to cloud the judgement of some.

As another poster indicated - since it was a sports-news outfit out of Detroit - there is little surprise that they'd be weighing Patterson higher than he arguably deserves. We'll see well he fares passing the ball during the late Midwestern falls ... when the arctic winds start to pick up. At least Lewerke showed quite a lot last year.

Hornibrook hype makes me laugh though, hell win games because of the talented receivers he has but there’s no way he’s better than Stanley. I know a great deal of Badger fans and from what I’m told they would all trade Hornibrook for Stanley any day of the week.

They have him behind Hornibrook that's laughable.

Only McSorley deserves to be ahead of Stanley... Haskins and Patterson have barely played a snap at OSU and Michigan, and they get the nod over someone who had 26 TD's and only 6 int last year? I'm calling OSU/Mich bias. And LOL at Hornibrook, anyone who has watched him play at all knows he sucks! Just look at all of those picks.

As usual, probably somewhere in between.

Most likely higher than 7th in the B1G and most likely not a first rounder in the draft.

We will see what McSorely does without Barkley. Lewerke beat us with his feet last year. Hornibrook played lights out in their bowl game last year. I'll take Stanley.

So dumb that they rank Patterson and Haskins ahead of Stanley, Hornibrook, and Lewerke based upon "potential". I think a reasonable ranking would bump them down below the proven/successful QBs and state that they have a chance to be ranked higher based upon their performance.

Stanley is going to get a shot at the NFL barring significant injury. Everything about him says NFL. Big, strong, adequately mobile. Top-caliber arm. It remains to be seen if he is ready for a pass-first type of offense. And his wind-up is too long. It would not surprise me if that has been a point of emphasis since last season. A lot will be determined at his draft combine. Josh Allen was a meh prospect until the combine but he won everyone over with his performance there. It helped him to have elite players to throw to at the combine. Wyoming may have had worse WRs than Iowa last year. I hope Nate comes back for 2019. Things are set up for a special season.
