Predict Top 5 Scoring Leaders 2019-20

Here is last years top 7 for context

Tyler Cook
15.0
Luka Garza
13.0
Jordan Bohannon
11.8
Joe Wieskamp
11.0
Isaiah Moss
9.1
Nicholas Baer
6.6
Ryan Kriener
5.6

2019/20 Prediction:

Joe Weiskamp
17.0
Luka Garza
14.5
CJ Fredrick
10.7
Jack Nunge
9.9
Ryan Kriener
8.5

Should be a logjam between 6-8 ppg by Pemsl, Connor and PM, wildcard is if we land a grad transfer Toussant will dish a lot of assists and play good defense but have minimal scoring stats IMO. I am assuming JBO redshirts.

With Cook gone, I suspect that Garza will get to the FT line significantly more this season. He has already demonstrated a crafty ability to score inside 10 feet. If he plays about the same number of minutes as last season, I could envision LG averaging around 17-18 ppg.

F/x Bohannon is back. I pretty much agree with your assessment. But I have no sense of this team at all.

JW and Garza will be the 1-2 scorers.

Other scoring possibilities might be:
Evelyn, if we get him.

Patrick, if he plays.
Nunge, if he’s improved as rumored.

Next tier:
Fredrick, if he can produce as a frosh.
Kriener, if he continues to develop.
JoeT: if he earns enough minutes as a distributor/defender, his quickness could make him a dark horse as a scorer.

These would be a surprise:
Pemsl has proven he can score if he’s healthy and if his opponent isn’t too much physically superior to him- both big IFs.
Connor- Maybe he could use a bat?

Evelyn is very good when he has 2 good wheels. I hope he is healthy and comes to Iowa.

For me, it's way too early to eliminate JBO from this discussion, therefore my top 5 scorers for this coming season is:
Joe Wieskamp, Luka Garza, Jack Nunge, Jordan Bohannan, C.J. Fredrick. With the remaining players contributing in this order: Cordell Pemsl, Ryan Kriener, & Patrick McCaffery, & Connor McCaffery.

Top two are pretty obvious.

Joey W-18
Luka-17

Pemsyl healthy scenario -10.5
Pemsyl not healthy = Nunge 9.5
Ryan-8.8
CJ-8.5

---------------------------------
PMc-7.8
CMcC 7.5
Joey T-6.5
Pemsyl/Nunge (non starter) 6

Very confident that Luka and Joey W significantly improve next season. Think Ryan will also improve significantly and provide Iowa with a very strong deep post for an entire game. They will generate a lot of fouls and free throws.

Not be at all surprised if Joey W led the conference in 3 pt %-with a lot of makes per game. He'll be the first option on many possessions.

Top 5 w/JBo

Garza
JW
JBo
Nunge
CJF

Top 5 w/o JBo

Garza
JW
CJF (more scoring opps without JBo)
Nunge
Kreiner

That's 100 points per game. I hope to see that Iowa team.

1) Luka Garza
2) Joe Wieskamp
3) Jordan Bohannon
4) Ryan Kreiner
5) Patrick M / CJF / Pemsl

Mark it down.........Patrick is going to produce in Freshman year.
Need to wait and see on Joe T and J Nunge.........but they'll be a help getting
IOWA back to the Big Dance !
Go Hawks !! :)

Just 90-the Pemsyl & Nunge is a variable arising from their status as a starter. A tad optimistic but think Iowa will continue to score at a high rate, although Luka & Joey W will be a larger share of the scoring than any two players from the immediate season past.
