With a minimum of 3 postseason games, Garza would still be on pace to get to #7 on the All Time B1G Scoring List.

#6 is possible
(2,323 points, Rick Mount Purdue, 1968-1970 )

#5 is very unlikely (2,438 points, Steve Alford Indiana, 1984-1987). There just are not enough games.

Rick Mount scored those points over THREE YEARS! Back then freshmen weren't allowed to play. Amazing shooter!

Rick Mount scored those points over THREE YEARS! Back then freshmen weren't allowed to play. Amazing shooter!
Crazy numbers he put up with no 3 point shot or shot clock!

And look at what Don Nelson did in 3 years and just 72 games:

#15 on Iowa All Time scoring list at 1,522 points (3 yrs: 1960-1962, 72 GP, .507 FG%, 21.2 ppg)

Weezy is just 3 points from passing @PHawkKenyon on the All Time Scoring List

#25 Kenyon Murray...1,230 (4 yrs: 1993-1996, 124 GP, .462 FG%, 9.9 ppg; 49 three pt goals)

Joe Wieskamp...1,228 (3 yrs: 2019-2021, 93 GP, .468 FG%, 13.2 ppg; 177 three pt goals)

#1 and #11 on the All Time List approve.

Joe has cracked the top 25, passing @PHawkKenyon

#25 Joe Wieskamp...1,238 (3 yrs: 2019-2021, 94 GP, .471 FG%, 13.2 ppg; 178 three pt goals)

#26 Kenyon Murray...1,230 (4 yrs: 1993-1996, 124 GP, .462 FG%, 9.9 ppg; 49 three pt goals)

That list is somewhat unfair. Pre 1973, freshman were not allowed to play. Also, some hawks in 1970 or so only played 24-25 games, where as today they play 31 and up regularly. Example is Roy Marble - played about 1.6 times the games as Kevin Kunnert and probably Fred Brown (well I think Freddy was a juco too!)

See orig post. The same things apply with the Iowa All Time Scoring List.

Don Nelson only played 72 games; Aaron White played 140

From the Original Post

..............

#3 Aaron White...1,859 (4 yrs: 2012-2015, 140 GP, .517 FG%, 13.3 ppg; 61 three pt goals)

#15 Don Nelson...1,522 (3 yrs: 1960-1962, 72 GP, .507 FG%, 21.2 ppg)
......................................

NOTABLES:

Sam Williams...1,176 (2 yrs: 1967-1968, 49 GP, .466 FG%,, 24 ppg)
John Johnson...1,172 (2 yrs: 1969-1970, 49 GP, .543 FG%,, 23.9 ppg)
Fred Brown...1,091 (2 yrs: 1970-1971, 48 GP, .501 FG%,, 22.7 ppg)
Reggie Evans...1,054 (2 yrs: 2001-2002, 69 GP, .486 FG%,, 15.3 ppg; 1 three point goal)

JBo passed Jess Settles and is now #10 on Iowa's ALL Time Scoring List

Luka is 18 points from #7 on the B1G All Time Scoring list.

He is 78 points from #6, so Iowa needs about 3 more games to get there.

Rick Mount is worth checking out on video. He scored a still-standing Big Ten record 61 against Iowa in 1970.

B1G ALL Time Scoring List:

#5 2,438 Steve Alford Indiana, 1984-1987

#6 2,323 Rick Mount Purdue, 1968-1970

#7 2,263 Steve Smith Michigan St, 1988-1991

#8 2,246 Luka Garza Iowa, 2018-2021

I'm predicting he finishes with 2312 ...unless we make it past the S16.

Luka, Year by Year Breakdown:

2017-18...400 pts...33 games...12.1 ppg

2018-19...419 pts...32 games...13.1 ppg

2019-20...740 pts...31 games...23.9 ppg

2020-21...687 pts...29 games...23.7 ppg
..............................................................................

............2,246 pts...125 games....18.0 ppg

If Rick Mount would have been able to play 4 years, his record would still be standing, even without the 3-point shot.

If he had had that, he probably would have probably had at least an 800 point lead in the B1G all-time scoring standards.

Of course, none of that even takes into effect the extended seasons they play nowadays compared to his era. He might have had a 1,000 point lead overall. It would have been similar to Nolan Ryan's career strikeout record over his runner-up.

@combes @IlliniHoops91 @Fighter of the Nightman @Booty Maximus , over the last 4 months we have been discussing Garza shooting up both the Iowa & B1G ALL Time scoring lists. I am surprised there are not more Illini players on the B1G ALL Time List.

Instead, you have just Deon Thomas.
