Preseason rank guess.

Just fire coaches and fire coaches and then wonder why we are never able to get to #1. Only 1 team gets to be champs. All the rest should fire their coaches. Anyone hasn’t been able to be #1 in the last 10 years should just be fired.

Pete Carroll took 10 of his 14 teams to the playoffs and landed Seattle their only Super Bowl championship.

He was fired.

KF has done far less and once again is facing a reboot of the offense now 25 years into his tenure that is far less decorated. He would have be gone anywhere else for plateauing of results and hiring under qualified candidates on the staff.

However at Iowa, the fan base is seemingly cool with 8 wins or so wins - maybe hitting 10 every few years. Despite being very well funded, they're okay with being ranked, even though no one takes them seriously on the national stage because they aren't a real threat. Why aren't they a threat? Well, Iowa is cool with getting to a big stage, but not really interested in competing once they get there because they know they cannot score. Instead, they take the approach of - instead of trying to win the game - hope the other team loses the game. Works against NW, ILL and MIN...until it doesn't. Rarely works against anyone worth a damn...but hey, Iowa fans are nostalgic and quick to bring up an "n of 1" win like 2016 Michigan. Or 1985 or 1981 Michigan. Oh and don't forget the Ohio State woodshed game!!!! There's a chance, dammit!

Lastly, the Iowans have an inferiority complex such that they believe Iowa "could be Indiana or Purdue," if the wrong coach is hired, so hey, let's just be cool with 8 wins, the occasional flash in the pan and an annual trip to a who cares bowl.

Why don’t other schools who have not won a natty in last say 10 years fire their coaches. Just keep cycling through them.

#1 🧐 Nobody has #1 on their mind.

We’re not even competing with the Penn State’s and Tennessee’s of the world right now.

Fox's RJ Young has us at # 20 pre-spring. Other Big Ten teams:

1. Ohio State
4. Oregon
5. Michigan
10. Penn State
25. USC

Has Alabama at #11.

As an outsider, I'd go with around 40 to 50 without Phil Parker. With Phil Parker - this year - I'm going to say around 20 to 25. He's the best DC in CF

I'm pretty sure that's the lowest any sane person has ranked Alabama. Even though they lose Grubb and Huff to Seattle, they're still loaded with talent and a capable coaching staff. I don't know exactly where I'd put them myself, but I'd think somewhere in the #4-7 range. Easily a playoff-caliber team; they likely should be good enough to push for a first-round bye.
