Purdy to Kittle

It seems like Buffalo, KC, Philly, and SF are a level above everyone else. Buffalo and SF have the most reliable defenses. The first three have QBs that can beat you even when you do everything right, and SF has three dudes that create mismatches and Aiyuk is pretty good too.

So of course at least two of those teams will be eliminated in the next two weeks. Winning in the NFL is hard.
I think Cincinnati is also in that group. People forgetting they almost won the Super Bowl last year and proving it’s no fluke. They own my Chiefs right now. If Hurts is healthy ( big if) them and the Niners will be a great game. Bills, Chiefs Bengals all really really good, 3 best QB’s in the league. 1st round bye for the Chiefs hopefully big as Bengals and bills have to beat each other up.

I hope your wrong gray, BUT Cincy sure has been the one team that has had Mahomes number...

I like the Chiefs and especially like watching Mahomes. Cincy just is solid nearly everywhere. Chiefs defense does seem improved so you may be able to get over the hump. I think every year Buffalo will win it this year but then the chinks in the armor become visible. Losing Von and Allen's endless brain farts will keep them out of the SB.

To be on the voting ballot for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a player must be inactive or retired for at least 5 years.

Losing all 4 Super Bowls hurt the Vikings when it came to Hall of Fame voting. One example of many was Tarkenton; he retired in 1978 but was not elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame until 1986. He should have been a first ballot, imo.
It was a travesty that Joe Namath was elected on the first ballot and Fran was not. Namath had a decent but not great career other than the Jets Superbowl win. Tarkenton held almost every NFL QB career passing record and played in three Superbowls. I'm not convinced Namath even belongs in the Hall.

True enough. Kind of my point. As I said until the Colts SB win, there were those doubting Manning, and same thing with Marino who carried the fins for a decade.......

For sure. Burrows is 3-0 against Mahomes and the Chiefs, so maybe this is our time..

For 31 seasons (from 1992 thru 2022), Green Bay had two Hall of Fame quarterbacks, Brett Favre (1992-2007) and Aaron Rodgers (2008-2022). Green Bay only won 1 Super Bowl under Favre and only 1 Super Bowl under Rodgers. That, to me, is a head scratcher. I guess 2 in 31 seasons is better than 1...or zero.... LOL

Your right there. Its kind of like with Manning though. They put so much $$ and draft picks into the offense, that their defense was not up to the task in Indy, so they'd win 13 games EVERY year, and then get stopped in the playoffs. The one year they won the SB vs the Bears, it was their defense, (and some guy named Demond Sanders) that carried the day. The Favre years he had to deal with the Cowboys or the Niners every year, so tough sledding there. Of course The last ten years has been some guy named Brady's playground.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Brady, on several occasions, re-worked his contract in order to free up money to sign free agents to help improve the team. Not sure if Favre or Rodgers ever did that.

It just seems like Brady does what is needed to win. He doesn't care if he isn't the highest paid QB. And it has paid off for him in terms of Super Bowl victories.

The beauty of the NFL is the parody and small market teams being able to compete with the big boys. Look at Chicago and New York teams, they've sucked for the last couple of decades.

this thread was started because of the feeling i was getting in my tummy due to a former iowa state QB throwing passes to a Hawk legend. it has morphed into who is going to win...

like my wife says, stay on topic, boys!

Man if that defender flying by collided with him it would have been scary.
Kittle caught a break because it was Diggs. He doesn’t like to get physical on tackles. He is a cover guy that gambles for the big INT, but sacrificing his body to hit someone at Kittle’s size is not in his personal job description. Had that been Roy Williams from Cowboys past lore, the ball would have been separated from Kittle and both players would have most likely gotten hurt.

He also caught a break because he was covered up on the play and was ineligible.

How do you figure (that he was covered up)? He was lined up at least a yard from the line of scrimmage ... hence, he's an eligible receiver.

Had he been lined up less than a yard from the line ... then yeah, then he would have been covered up. However, that wasn't the case.

Looks like he is on the line here ...

Thanks for the correction ... I didn't look at the full play ... I just was looking at the guy who was inside from the WR on the right ... but, upon counting hats ... that guy was presumably the OT. Based upon where Kittle lined up ... that looks like either a covered TE (or if the LOS is at the 21 ... maybe an illegal formation issue ... too many guys in the backfield?)

Incorrect. He was on the LOS with the FB also on the LOS and a WR left of them OFF the LOS. The FB was eligible. Kittle wasn't.
