Question on You Tube TV

I am on day 6 I think and so far so good. It was nice to have Fox Sports Chicago as they had the UNI-Illinois State game Saturday. I did not get this channel on DTV. It is a little odd at first to not be able to punch in a channel, but YTTV does a nice job organizing everything so the sports channels are all pretty close to each other. We have recorded a few shows and not had any issues. It requires a couple more steps but pretty straightforward.

You can customize your channel lineup. I just put my least watched stations last so I don’t have to see them.

I have 5 mbps and it is slow but I am determined to make it work as it is the best I have available unless I switch back to Mediacom, which I won't.

If you can get 10 mbps+, that would be best.
Wow, that is really slow. I have the 5G service; not sure how fast I actually get at times but just checked and it currently showed 105 Mbps on both download and upload.

Frndly tv is a good workaround app that is 8 dollars a month for about 10 happy type channels, the main ones being the Hallmark channels. Nice DVR support as well. My wife is happy now to watch all those Christmas movies they pour out, and we can get rid of it Dec. 26th.
This. I was a hero with my wife for finding this when we found out about the PSVue service discontinuing.

I'm not tech savy...how do you do that?
I checked with the tv remote and didn't see how you could customize it, however, when I customized my channel lineup, I did it on my PC. Hope that helps. Just go to Youtube on your computer, click on "APPS", click "Youtube TV". Click on "LIVE" and look for "Custom".

I'm having issues also here in Colo. Several channels missing. Have had the service for quite awhile. This is a first (that I know of). Guess I'll just give it some time.

Support stated that they are working on this problem.

YTTV advocate here. I, too, waited far too long and wish I'd done it sooner than January 2019. I actually did YTTV and Hulu Live concurrently for 2 months (used them every-other-day) while I tested them both out to see which one I liked more. I use ROKU on 2 televisions and the YTTV XBox app on my 3rd with an aftermarket remote specific to XBox to make it more of a TV experience. I personally found YTTV meets my needs best. Hulu Live is a great tool as well and actually has more overall channels. They charge you extra for having more than 2 devices streaming at the same time, and charge you extra for expanded DVR storage. By the time I added the extras, Hulu was quite a bit more than YTTV and I didn't find those extra channels only Hulu offered to be worth that difference. You may.

Also - I prefer the YTTV interface. Some people prefer the Hulu interface.

The great thing: they are monthly subscriptions. Cancel one and use the other for a month, then switch back, and then switch again whenever you want. You can make the best choice for you without the high commitments and with no switching costs.

The 2 negatives: 1) You are completely at the mercy of your internet service provider. 2) It does not take a genius to see the prices for these streaming television services to gradually increase until they reach the same level as cable at some point in the future. Enjoy it while you can and may the competitive landscape stay competitive to keep those prices down.

Ready to dump DirecTV and seeking some input on You Tube TV. Appears to check all the boxes for Hawkeye sports with BTN, ESPN's and FS1. For those who have this, do you recommend it?
Love it....Went to Florida last week and was able to access it with ease on my I pad(always had trouble with sling and psvue) didn't miss a beat.
Has everything a Hawk fan needs,, I have had zero problems with it,, Love it.

Another nice thing is that movies and shows you DVR remain in the cloud for nine months.
