I was a little more diplomatic.
I'm starting to think the handle is meant to be an ironic one to help disguise a troll.
it doesn’t fit their narrative so it won’t be shared. a few bad apples don’t represent everyone but dammed if they don’t try to paint us all with the same brush.
That should be the response from ANY university coach. Great coaches see the athlete, not the color of the athlete. The atmosphere of today is any racism is not tolerated. TB lives it, he isn't playing lip service.

Yeah. Might not be an Iowa fan, who is intent on continuing to make the Iowa fan base look bad. Who knows, they might even be paid to sow disruption (assuming that allegation is true). Might be fishing for others to agree. Could be part of the reason for the advice to stay off the boards.
It was hinted by sports writers that ISU fans yelled the f word against an Iowa basketballer.. You'd think even ISU would try to stop that.
That's bull. Tom Brands said what a great coach should say, no matter what the college or how liberal or conservative it is.

If you don't think all B1G coaches have to have some coachspeak, carefully walk a line, not be fully forthcoming, having to keep several viewpoints inside, in this age of insane politics and ultra fragile sensibilities concerning race, then we should just politely disagree.
He perfectly spoke in generalities that we can all applaud without revealing all the exacting details of what he thought specifically happened.

Yea, there can be some merit to this thought, the old sticks and stones....adage. Then I remember that words sometimes cause deep and lasting psychological scars, even suicide or outward violence.
On a couple of occassions when one of my beautiful bi-racial grandkids has sadly proclaimed to me that she wishes her skin was a different color so people wouldn't say mean things to her, after wiping the tears from my eyes I calmly tell her how beautiful and wonderful she is, we talk about having 'thick skin' and ignoring those people, and why they may be that way. After she walks away, I then quietly go out to the garage, stack some boxes, draw a face on the box to represent the person (or their parent) who says this crap, and I beat the shit out of the boxes with my baseball bat, all the while dreaming I was testing how thick their skull was. Now more relaxed, I refocus on what I can do to make a positive difference on these issues. We all can do more, whether the Gomez story is true or not.

As I see it, that goes both ways. I don't even know what "woke" means. We have 'patriots" who never tire of signaling their "American" virtues, and we have SJWs here as well, just like the rest of America.

Nobody can control the idiotic actions of a few. And every fan base has them. So, relax.
Tommy has this covered. And I think his approach will be comforting to potential recruits of any size, shape, color or nationality.

They really can’t both be right. There is no my truth, your truth, or his truth. There is THE TRUTH. You know. Like what actually happened.
#1 A racial slur was yelled at him.
#2 He thought it was a racial slur but misheard what was said.
#3 He lied (for a multitude of possible reasons)
I would like to believe the truth is #1 or #2 as I would hate to think he lied in this situation but who knows.
Either way it’s a good thing to condemn racism or potential racism. I’m glad Tom is our leader.
