Maryland football is in hot water. Prospects may be souring on the program. They have done well in recruiting and some guys may become available. We don't have many spots left, but could a decommit become a target for Iowa?

Like any of them? The same thread came out about poaching Ohio State recruits a little over a week ago. Really? Good luck with all that.

If they can't handle getting yelled at, they probably wouldn't fare very well at Iowa.
Phil Parker is the primary yeller of the bunch ... but he doesn't do it to emasculate his guys. Furthermore, his guys typically end up being very close to him ... and they have each others back. The sort of yelling going on at Maryland is a whole different sort of beast.

True. Phil Parker has admitted that he can raise his voice to teach. He in no way should be confused with a Kaczenski type who screamed at players and embarrassed them in practice. Nobody at Iowa misses Kaz.

0 Maryland commits had an offer from Iowa in the Class of 2019.

Some are from familiar areas, although Iowa isn't in DC as much anymore.

Iowa also tends to be more about building relationships with recruits- at least at this stage of recruitment. There may be some late offers because of attrition, decommittis and things of that nature, so I wouldn't expect to see iowa "pouching recruits" unless they have already established some what of a relationship. Not to mention we only have 11 seniors and this class is/was expected to be smaller. We have had some attrition that will add to that number, but we also have some walk-ons that have probably earned consideration for scholarships which will impact the # of this class. Iowa is pretty unique in it's recruiting tactics, they identify players they feel will fit culturally and don't always chance talent- not saying that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it is their way

Well if we become interested in a player and think he's interested in us we can always offer them. Never know what can happen. We poached from Rutgers. Mcdonald did not have an offer til late.
All true. They didn't start going after McDonald until after signing day last December IIRC. Offered around Christmas.

Maybe Urban Meyer could learn something about accountability from President Loh instead of the weak excuses like I wasn't prepared, this is the first I've heard of this, this is a personal issue. I personally hope Meyer and Durkin never set foot on a college football field again

You should probably go back to your board, no one cares about what you have to say. Being a douche bag on another teams board is really childish and you should probably jump off a bridge.

Rather than necessarily poach recruits ... I wonder if the distractions will undermine the Terps season this year ... or if it motivates them to have a renewed focus?

You have to remember - we play them this year. Many of us have it chalked up as a victory ... but if Pigrome is healthy and executing well ... that Maryland O could irritatingly good. Definitely not a team to overlook ...

McNairs parents have now come out and said they believe Durkin should be let go.
I didn't think about it as much, but i guess there could be some attrition from guys who are already there. I wonder what the viewpoint is from inside the program and the players.

Not sure...I thought Durkin could step down, but lacking further outcry he likely survives.
There could be the question on whether they think that a culture of bullying will persist.

Alternatively, they could let things play out for the season ... and then re-evaluate things based on who is available afterwards.

Urban will be at OSU. There's no moral compass in him or the university. CYA mode has been at full throttle since the presser blunder.

You're probably right. When that happens, no amount of winning will make up for the derision that program receives for empowering a culture where it's ok to beat the shit out of your wife. In fact, the more they win, the bigger this black eye will become. And rightfully so.

I guess college football is just too big. The revenues are so massive. You would think some parents would discourage their kids from playing for Meyer. The allure of Ohio State is just too much I guess.
