Reece Vander Zee

Phil Parker can’t wait for Kirk to get back to convince him Reese should move to be a defense back.

RVZ is a receiver and he's not moving from that position. No way. Iowa has an army at TE and a small platoon of receivers. Iowa will have some tough receivers in the receiver room. Not many but more than last year. If Kaleb B has improved, and everyone down in IC says he has, Kaleb B and RVZ are going to be good and so much better than last year.

It helps to have a QB completing 66% of attempts rather than 48%, a line that holds its pocket and a running game with a new attacking O line and some good backs. Kaleb J needs more carries.

Vander Zee looked great. He reminds of what people on here thought Brody Brecht was before they found out that he wasn't very good at football.

I get all the love for Reese and he is going to be really good, but I thought the most impressive td was the dime Cade threw to Gill. Basically double coverage and yet they looked like they were really on the same page with that play. All in all, I am with KF on this, I have optimism for the wr room.

See, I didn't think it was that great of a throw. He under threw him and Gill made a great adjustment and a pretty good catch. You could tell Cade was rusty and was hesitant to step into any throw for most of the day. I thought he kept falling back and throwing off his back foot, especially in the first half. Tough to fault him with how much time has missed, but hopefully the rust wears off quickly.

Not trying to start an argument, but I didn't think it was that great of a throw. Either way, touchdown Hawkeyes and hope to see many more, to whoever!

Agreed, that pass kind of floated. It should've had more zip and led him more away from the DB's.
