Republicans- does it bother you that your party lied to you about the SCOTUS pick in 2016?

They had the power to hold it up, so they did. They have the power to push it through now so they will.

Does it bother you, though, that they claimed it was about letting the people have a say? We know now that was just cover for the political play. Claiming that the Senate and President are of the same party now or that Kavanaugh changed the game is just cover now.

Does this make you question whether any of your party's other claims may be a lie? Maybe voter ID pushes and now restricting mail-in voting is really about suppressing voter turnout and not election integrity. Maybe the talk of the deficit isn't actually in good faith once the Dems are back in power. Maybe Biden is going to let antifa move into your suburban home. Is there anything else you are questioning?

To everybody, what are the other political assertions that are clearly bad faith arguments meant to cover the political play?

I can't believe some are surprised by the tactics GOP used then and will use in the coming months. Dems have two choices: 1. Play hardball as often as possible (especially if they get Senate control) or 2. Keep taking it in the shorts. GOP has been playing this way for 20-30 years and Dems don't seem to get it. So, fight back or keep taking it on the chin. We will see what they do, but history is on the side of taking it on the chin.

So it doesn't bother you? You are fine that they lied because you knew it was a lie and you knew they just needed to convince the dumber people in your party?
no I am fine with it. we voted for trump so he could get rid of communists like hillary and biden and obama, AKA drain the swamp and the communists obama appointed to the SC. those two horrible women are card carrying communists, and we needed to get rid of the communist plan of obamacare. so win-win

No it doesn’t bother me, I come to expect it from both parties. They both lie and mislead to achieve their goals.

If you want to say “your side” is on some high road go ahead. I won’t be listening or believing.

Republicans used to be a party who's base believed in integrity, honesty, ethics, etc... However they spent the last 20 years or so (Probably even longer) convincing their members that the Democrats didn't. That they lied, they cheat, they abuse power... I distinctly remember people like Rush saying over and over that if the Republicans are doing it, even though it's wrong we have to start doing it.

What I've recognized is that the power movers were simply conditioning and priming their base to not only not care about ethics, but to actively demand that their politicians do whatever they canto gain power. So no, they don't care. As long as there's the abortion issue they get to feel holy and pious over who they back, no matter what else they do.

It's the primary reason I left both the Republican party and the Church.

Which is why you're so goddamn happy Ruth Bader Ginsburg died. You just can't control you glee, can you?
dems have glee the attention is not now on biden hidin' in the basement. he better act quickly to get the attention back to himself. he only has a few days.

This bolded above is just another ploy. Even if Roe v Wade is overturned they will just move to the next issue. Abortion is just the excuse given.

The great thing about abortion is that it can never go away, it will always be an issue they can control Christians with. Even if they overturn it, they'll simply have the ploy of Democrats wanting to murder children and so they have to continue to vote Republican otherwise Democrats will just kill them again. The most frustrating aspect of that to me as a Christian was in recognizing that we used that ploy to completely ignore all the evils Republicans did. Once my eyes opened to it, I couldn't remain either an American Christian or a Republican any more.

Now that's not to say I'm a Democrat, although I do now support more Democratic policies than Republican, but I still believe that abortion outside of health issues should be illegal, however I'd also want to put through a ton of policy to help women not need abortion such as access to healthcare, birth control, free pre-school, employment protections, etc...

This is why people without principles are dangerous. This is why the Republicans are dangerous.

If the Republicans still had principles, I would be far less concerned and Trump wouldn't be the president. But there are no principles to be found in the Republican party.
we have principals: get rid of horrible liberals. period. end of story.

That's not a principle. That's a goal, one in which you have apparently decided to carry out by any means necessary which includes ending democracy and violating human rights. The Nazi's had a similar goal to which they were willing to carry out by any means necessary.

It bothered me in 2016 tremendously. This isn't a "we now know it was a power play" moment. We (Republicans) knew it then.

There's nothing in the constitution about waiting until the next election to nominate. And there's nothing in the constitution about only having 9 justices on the Supreme Court.

you continue to prove what an off the charts moron you are. Of course Trumps boot lickers will not hesitate to reverse course on statements made in 2016, this entire group is shameless and soulless just like all of Trumps supporters, including but especially crazed conspiracy theory peddling loons like OiT.

To answer your question- yes and no.

Both parties will try and use power to their advantage and that is what you are seeing.
Bigger issue is that there isnt a stead fast rule for this issue. Until there is you will see this happen every single time.

The other issue if I was a Dem - I just dont understand why she didnt step down in the middle of the Obama run and they could have appointed anyone they wanted at that time.
