Retire Kirk

Guys like Saban and even Paterno realized several years ago that offense needed to be pass oriented and aggressive in order to continue to compete. Our coach keeps bringing up 1980’s as if it was just a few years ago. Time for new blood who realizes you can’t win championships with no offense.

I love and respect KF but he needs to go. He loves Iowa so much, show us in the moment when you voluntarily step away.

🥱. More personal attacks. BAU. This board was greatly improved when you were rightfully banned.

Actually, you are attacking others, calling them children.

And you've been banned twice recently for your extremely bizarre behavior. Each of those bans was for a week. Did you forget?

Alright, I'll hear you out. Why does he still deserve respect? I personally feel like how he handled the Brian situation changed that aspect of him still deserving respect.
He's a good man off and on the field and has been a great ambassador for Iowa. He's won a lot but staying after this season it'll start to tarnish more and more his legacy. He's too damn stubborn to adjust to the times and it's becoming costly.

I felt that way about him, but the nepotism thing changed that, and also the stubbornness. His snarky attitude also was a factor.

So, here's the thing about that. Anyone with kids who thinks that what Kirk did with Brian was so horrible and nefarious needs to reevaluate themselves and what they would do for their kids. Blood is thicker than water or Iowa football. As a fan you can be angry about it, but it doesn't make Kirk a shitty person.

I understand the desire to look out for his son, but it showed that he'll break rules and be unethical, which makes him a shitty person for demanding that others be held accountable, but he doesn't think he should.

Barta gave permission for Kirk to do what he did. Kirk might have been oblivious with respect to his and Brian's abilities to run an offense, but that's exactly why he put Brian in that position. I don't think Kirk ever even considered that it could end the way that it did. Kirk is hardly the first successful man to be overcome with hubris and make some really bad decisions as a result.
