I was thinking how incredible it was going to be with Michigan and all the other top tier teams attending. But now with PSU it's game on. This year is going to be a dogfight between with PSU and a couple of our fellas are going to have to avenge a couple of the losses we took at NCAAs. Grabbed 2 tickets for this today, not many (any) chances to see Iowa wrestle living in FL. According to the Journeymen website there are only 2100 tix available.
Interesting. Still 6 or 7 weeks out but thought the ticket sales number would be higher than that. I was really curious as to the selection of Ft Walton Beach, though definitely see the advantage if the weather's nice.
I’m guessing they would have to include Disney characters or alligator wrestling to attract 2100 spectators to an event in Florida.
2 things I will actually see next week. Family visiting, so I am playing tourist.
The Q followers gathered to see JFK Jr this week, so this seems doable.
He was just the undead headliner from what I’ve read.
Btw, I think I’m too old for this new reality. I can barely keep up.
I can't believe more people aren't traveling for this. Destin is beautiful, usually we will be in the mid to upper 60's low 70's temp wise. Chance to see all of these teams under one roof.

Is the event or University doing anything to actually to actually promote ticket sales for this?
Maybe that's it...the Christmas deal. My wife only gets one week off for Christmas and we have to use that to visit her dad in WV. I'm trying to do sickly amounts of schmoozing in hopes that I can go.
I am guessing the fact that the state of Florida has been consistent on not canceling events might have played into the location.
Or require vaccinations to attend. But don't ever underestimate the ability of the Big Ten or NCAA to F things up regardless (and those "others").
Makes things easier, but I also think there has been growing momentum for an event in Florida over winter break the last several years. Didn't happen last year because of covid I think, but remember those Miami duals that were significantly cutting into scuffle/midlands participation. That's where Eierman beat Yianni. It's a nice place to spend a week in the middle of winter and duals are a little less taxing than tournaments.
Has anyone seen an actual schedule for this yet? I know it says wrestling starts at 9am on the 20th, but which teams at what times? TIA.
I can't find it yet. Any idea on ticket sales?
Last I heard only 400 so far, I'm sure that's changed.

Hopefully Missouri wins their side so we can see The Bull vs. O'Toole. Most of the intriguing matchups will be in the blue pool just glancing at the teams involved.
Both teams would have some possible matchups with the Hawks that I would like to see.
Mizzou:
Jacques, O'Toole, Kent, Rocky Elam
NC State:
Wilson, Hidlay bros
Anyone else kind of disappointed after seeing the match ups? Good stuff for sure but I would have preferred a true champion.
I would love to see the bull vs otoole so the so called Iowa fans who think otoole should be #1 are proven wrong. To me you are us or against us. Marinelli always gets a raw deal. Thinking O'Toole should be ranked #1 is not the same thing as thinking O'Toole is better than the Bull. Did you believe Iowa was the 2nd best football team in the country when they were ranked #2? Also, grow up.

Wouldn't think it'd be a coincidence that PSU agrees to fill in for Michigan and then all the sudden the entire format has changed so that one side won't wrestle the other.
And these same people will say they want to grow the sport. What a crock of shit!
If true, they should have stuck with the original format and invited someone else. The new format makes this a bit of a fart in the wind.
Definitely not like the glory days when it was held in the UNI Dome. Not sure how many times it was there, but I'm pretty sure our group went to all of them.
Then the whining started, and look at the shitshow it's become ever since it was last held at the UNI Dome.
