Rofkin Duals

Definitely not like the glory days when it was held in the UNI Dome. Not sure how many times it was there, but I'm pretty sure our group went to all of them.

Then the whining started, and look at the shitshow it's become ever since it was last held at the UNI Dome.

Or even before it was at the Dome and held in other places.

It's pretty incredible to me that top teams don't want to wrestle each other. Unreal stuff. There was a time where Iowa and ISU were both big time programs. Not only did they schedule each other for two duals a year, they also had the potential of running into each other at National Duals, Midlands, and probably some open tournaments as well. When and why did everyone decide that was a terrible idea and become averse to wrestling each other? It's ridiculous and sad.

the Rokfin duals are the closest thing we could get to a big dual event. and i'm thankful for it.

frankly, the alternative is that we get nothing.

and if you really drill down and see what else is on the schedule later in the year, we won't miss much. these duals will set the stage for later on.

we can b!tch about the duals we don't get in florida or we can go glass-half-full and thank the coaches for agreeing to give us what we get.

We wont ever get the full storty-- but LOTS of "positioning" and teams NOT wantingting to wrestle each other.

Word on the street is, they were thinking about using a waterfowl stamp as ticket into the event and the coaches couldn’t agree on the type of duck to feature. But you didn’t here that from me….

There may not be all the teams in attendance that we would all love to see, but there are going to be some great individual matchups. That’s what I’m looking forward to. Also it’s been awhile since UNI and Iowa have met up. By my recollection anyway

Yeah I get this, I do, but it is college sports. College. Love the Hawks, the opportunity through collegiate athletics, all of that. I am a HS coach, and seeing kids move on to compete at the next level, because they want to, is excellent. But in the end, college is school. Ridunculous what the NCAA has done with athletics.

No, it’s just the way I thought brackets could have been set up based of a combination of dual and tournament rankings. Based on the seeds in the brackets no other conference should have to face one another. If they did, meh. EIWA has four teams, it seems like not wrestling someone in your own conference is what the brackets are based on. There really isn’t any seeding going on.
