ROY - WNBA

Sorry, I'm picking nits and this doesn't take away from your point, but Paige won as a freshman. Boston won Caitlin and Paige's sophomore year. Caitlin was right there at the top all four years and could reasonably have won it her freshman or sophomore years too.

I will still argue to anyone that will listen (hopefully nobody will in person) that Caitlin should have won it (Naismith) all four years.

Biggest travesty was that the AP did not give her first team All American her freshman year (other outlets did) and that she was not Big Ten Player of the year.

I actually saw the not being Big Ten Player of the Year coming…she gets that her freshman year than it’s basically a lock of seven in a row for Iowa.

Reese has hit her pinnacle. She isn’t getting any better than what she’s showing right now. Clark on the other had can and will become way better as the season moves along. We’ve already seen major improvements. Add in her teammates adjusting to playing with her and actually finishing layups/making shots. Her and Bostons connection has drastically improved since the start of the season. I see no way Clark isn’t by far the most deserving of the award by seasons end…
I'd say Clark deserves ROY & MVP

Live look at Sheryl Swoopes and Monica McNutt after today's game...

Was she gonna vote for Caitlin a week ago when the Fever were above the Sky in the standings???

What a joke.

But they came up with reasons to keep her off the Olympic team so this should not be surprising.

Check this out & watch:

By this brilliant thinking then K. Martin should be ROY since her team is the best in the WNBA?

Remember all of those layoffs at ESPN? Somehow Monica McNUTT is still around, talking nonsense.

She is just another example for why nobody tunes in to watch ESPN any more (the exception is when your team is playing on ESPN and you are forced to watch).

Clark's inconsistent shooting is really the only thing holding back her ROY odds. If she can improve that part of her game after the Olympics break, she should have a great chance to win. I'm sure she is much more interested in winning games and getting to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, AR is shooting barely over 40% from inside 3 feet of the basket.

Lol, they're going to find every possible way to twist reality into AR's favor. Can't wait to hear Monica McNutt's new take now that her metric falls in CC's favor. There's one reason they want AR to get ROY. It's pretty embarrassing.
McNuttybar is gonna superficially recognize Caitlin's trip-dub but will be all over Reese's 13th straight double-double. It breaks Parker's record over two seasons. Will not mention team records now is my guess.

I dunno.

This race is so damn political even if Caitlin is demonstrably better I can see a CO-ROY for the first time in the W's history. And if it's close the old-guard W and media will surely push AR through.

It's gonna get insane I fear.
Caitlin isn’t demonstrably better at this point. 17pts 14 Rebs for Reese today. Clark has an insane amount of turnovers. I think Clark is the better player most of the time. Inconsistent with shots at times and forces some passes she shouldn’t. Team is not helping her in her assists when they can’t hit open shots or catch great passes. If it ended today I’d say it’s Reese. (Mainly because of turnovers) Clark is going to have the greatest career in WNBA history for a guard I think. Reese will have a few great seasons…

Comparing Caitlin to AB is like comparing Patrick Mahomes to Warren Sapp. Both incredible at what they do, but too dissimilar to compare. They have very different jobs.

McNutt's comment about Caitlin being Freer is a 9.5 on the stupid scale.

It would help tremendously if Caitlin actually starts making shots herself and puts the issue to bed. She is going to lead in turnovers for sure so she can't also shoot so poorly too. I think the way their bigs are finishing for her and others making a lot more 3s than early in the year she may get the assist title to balance Reese's rebounding title, which would be huge. But it's basically if the Fever win it's because Kelsey Mitchell got hot down the stretch and Boston got a double-double, Caitlin is just the third wheel that gets assists but basically disappears when it comes to hitting the big shots (3 point play from yesterday being a nice exception although she basically disappeared after the first eight minutes of the game). Anything less from the other two and they don't win because Caitlin just can't make open shots on her own at this point, particularly against the best teams. Conversely when Chicago wins, Angel Reese is carrying them and obviously took the game from the Fever last time they played which really elevates her for the anti-Clark media. Fever need to beat the Sky in that final meeting for sure to win that season series. I really didn't think Reese would be a double digit scorer in the league since she has little offensive skill and Cardosa was on the same team, but so far she has proven me wrong and at least cobbled together ten points here and there to keep her streak.

How much of this is tongue in cheek?

Don't disagree necessarily.

But, of course, there could be marked separation by the end of the season. I'm biased, but I do think Caitlin's ceiling is much higher. Otoh, Reese is an effort player and she's seemingly able to bring that game every night.

Regardless, it just seems like this thing is going to get totally out of hand.

Aside from rebounding, what does AR do better?

The season is only 1/2 over...the cream will rise to the top! The true test of who is better is easy to decide...who would you rather have on your team.? I'll go with the Guard!! ;) Kind of like baseball, do you take the guy who his home run and RBI's or the 5- tool player. There is really no comparison of who is more valuable.

These awards are a good conversation piece for commentators or writers to get attention for themselves.

If you have the ball in your hands 80% of the time, you're going to have more turnovers. No pain, no gain.
