Actually, no, I don't.You don't understand why Iowa fans don't like Angel Reese? Seriously?

The caveat there is that when you're close to the bucket ... there are going to be a lot of hands coming in (and fast) ... so there is a natural tendency for players to shoot very quickly. This is often when there is contact (that is not called) ... or a players is anticipating contact.Agree that both are good players But:
The rebound stat line should be if you shoot and miss but get the rebound it should not be counted. But it is, so the rebound count is flawed in my opinion.
Reese's taunt was a WHOLE other level than typical smack talk. Completely classless and terrible sportsmanship.Actually, no, I don't.
There's footage of her taunting ... once. Who cares? Really ... who cares? It happens in every sport between the best players. Caitlin talks smack (during games) to other players (at least in college) ... is she all of the sudden a legitimate villain?
Apart from the gamesmanship ... is it not possible to appreciate a talented player for being ... well, talented?
Angel Reese is about as likeable as Brad Davison.........Actually, no, I don't.

But yes, your point is one of a reasonable temperament. Over 15 months later, the taunt is not as big a deal as people still make it.
Reese has some unlikeable qualities. She's 100% about herself.
But she's also a talented player and competes very hard
? Who said that?"Well Caitlin has already played two seasons in the WNBA so it's not fair to compare Caitlin to a rookie ..."
It looks like Angel does not want to hug her.
"WE BEAT HER! WE BEAT HER! GIVE US A HUG!"
It was sarcasm - for when she said CC was 25 and playing with 19-20 years olds, etc...? Who said that?
It looks like Angel does not want to hug her.
They could also add that they are clearing out because they fear how quickly and relentlessly CC pushes the ball up the court. But they won't because it's not about actual basketball knowledge.CC22 not done with the triple doubles this season. I wonder how many it takes. 3? 4+?
Saw a garbage social media thread yesterday that was trying to say that The Fever has been adjusting their strategies to pad Clark's stats, as if it's some conspiracy to evolve the team to a style of play that Clark brings to the table. The hate-hoops some jump through are comical. And I love that Clark's rebounds aren't legit somehow because the other team is clearing out? Sad and funny.
The thing is sarcasm doesn't work when pretend quoting Swoopes because she so god damn stupid it is impossible to distinguish sarcasm from what she actually said.It was sarcasm - for when she said CC was 25 and playing with 19-20 years olds, etc...
I would take those odds whatever they are, because ROY is "selected by panel of sportswriters throughout the United States, each of whom casts a vote for first, second and third place selections." No way to predetermine co-winners.I'll say it again, but this time with more conviction and certainty. They will be co-ROTY. That way everyone will be happy and mad at the same time. What's the betting line on that?
The only possible thing I could think of is she picks up a few extra defensive boards per game hanging out in the lane on jump shots. But that isn't padding stats that is playing basketball that anyone else on the court could do as well.CC22 not done with the triple doubles this season. I wonder how many it takes. 3? 4+?

^^^ WOB*The taunt, while absolutely ridiculous, plays just a part of her overall lack of appeal.
I know some like the loud, brash, "look at me" types --Deion, Trump, McGregor. I don't.
She's all about herself, a complete ego maniac who then, right on cue, plays the victim when she fails. The crocodile tears and "whoa is me" act after the elite 8 loss was as hilarious as it was pathetic.
Emanuel Acho hit the nail on the head with this piece on her the following day. Kudos to him for having the courage to say what his counterparts were afraid to.
Bayless opens his mouth and the shit comes rolling out!!!
Maybe she's spending time with Swoopes.....Comparing Caitlin to AB is like comparing Patrick Mahomes to Warren Sapp. Both incredible at what they do, but too dissimilar to compare. They have very different jobs.
McNutt's comment about Caitlin being Freer is a 9.5 on the stupid scale.
Thank you Sista Swoopes........"Well Caitlin has already played two seasons in the WNBA so it's not fair to compare Caitlin to a rookie ..."
Just a couple of points. 1) this is nothing new for Reese. She got a lot of boards off her misses in college as well, and it has little to do with being a rookie. Shes just not a gifted scorer. Never has been. She still shoots her driving lay ups from her hip, (just like Kelsey Mitchell does). That has to be the worst form on a layup possible, especially for someone who is 6'3". 2) I still think that Clark just needs to work on her body, and conditioning in the offseason. Its not a matter of her all of a sudden not being a good shooter. Its fatigue. She having to play at an even greater pace then in college and late in the games she doesn't have her legs. We saw this some at Iowa, but it stands out more now. She even asks out of game now, and that NEVER happened at Iowa......The caveat there is that when you're close to the bucket ... there are going to be a lot of hands coming in (and fast) ... so there is a natural tendency for players to shoot very quickly. We're not talking about the men's game ... where a lot of play close to the bucket is played above the rim.
However, when you're further from the bucket ... the nature of the contest is very different.
Frankly, it's not a bad strategy if you can put the ball up quickly ... but you also know where the ball is going. The put-back ball is usually an easier shot that the original, contested shot.
However, all that said ... shooting percentage is clearly something that Reese needs to improve upon. Not shockingly ... but a rookie has room for improvement. There are many aspects of Caitlin's game that needs improvement too ... she needs to cut down turnovers, she still needs to get used to getting off better shots and/or better looks against the quality of D she's now facing (i.e. her 3-point percentage is down), and she needs to continue to improve her contribution on the defensive end of the court.
With regard to her pace, this last game against the Liberty reminded me of this year's game against SC. Just just came out cooking, but everything was max effort and it was just not sustainable. It is nice now that Boston is playing great, and Mitchell pretty well to shoulder the scoring load when that happens.Just a couple of points. 1) this is nothing new for Reese. Ouch...that was bad 🤣^^^ WOB*
*I can't remember if you are an OT guy. If you are not, a WOB is a malapropism and it is supposed to be funny and not a personal attack.
Tbf, Jordan is better than LeBron and LeBron stans never could accept it, even when LeBron told them to........Badge of honor. This guy has spent the last 20 years pushing the false narrative that MJ >>> LeBron. Now that it has become undeniable that LBJ is the GOAT he is forced to move on to the AR is ROY take.
Now that it has become undeniable that LBJ is the GOAT
Keep your politics to the Off Topic board, please. Now that it has become undeniable that LBJ is the GOAT
They Sky lose most of the close games they’re in, so Reese ain’t doing much carrying. I guess she’s only a dawg every once in a while. The last game they won was because of Carter and not Reese. It would help tremendously if Caitlin actually starts making shots herself and puts the issue to bed. She is going to lead in turnovers for sure so she can't also shoot so poorly too. I think the way their bigs are finishing for her and others making a lot more 3s than early in the year she may get the assist title to balance Reese's rebounding title, which would be huge. But it's basically if the Fever win it's because Kelsey Mitchell got hot down the stretch and Boston got a double-double, Caitlin is just the third wheel that gets assists but basically disappears when it comes to hitting the big shots (3 point play from yesterday being a nice exception although she basically disappeared after the first eight minutes of the game). Anything less from the other two and they don't win because Caitlin just can't make open shots on her own at this point, particularly against the best teams. Conversely when Chicago wins, Angel Reese is carrying them and obviously took the game from the Fever last time they played which really elevates her for the anti-Clark media. Fever need to beat the Sky in that final meeting for sure to win that season series. I really didn't think Reese would be a double digit scorer in the league since she has little offensive skill and Cardosa was on the same team, but so far she has proven me wrong and at least cobbled together ten points here and there to keep her streak.
Where do you think Sheryl Swoopes is coming from though? The thing is sarcasm doesn't work when pretend quoting Swoopes because she so god damn stupid it is impossible to distinguish sarcasm from what she actually said.
There is a good chance that can happen if they let it happen. It seems like they are starting to figure that out a little bit.Hopefully that then can be leveraged to raise their rates of compensation.
If anyone ever actually watches a Sky game, count the number of times Angel Reese actually boxes someone out, you could probably count them on one hand. It also helps that the Sky has the second worst shooting percentage in the league. And one more thing, Clark gets criticized for her defense all the time, but Reese is not a very good defender and we never hear about that.Just a couple of points. 1) this is nothing new for Reese. You can be bitter without or saying moronic things, or just making shit up. Like bob feller. Bitter as the day was long. But he didn’t say stupid things. At least not to my knowledge.Where do you think Sheryl Swoopes is coming from though?
Just pay attention to a pretty recent Magic Johnson interview ... right now there is a ton of envy/jealously directed toward Caitlin.
However, part of the jealousy is directed because Swoopes (and others) have historically been amazing players .... however, up until just recently ... there was just very little attention paid to the WNBA. If you were in the same situation ... I think that you'd find that it would chaffe your butthole too! I know that it would mine. On one hand ... it cannot feel like a "fair deal." However, as most of us know ... life ain't fair.
Folks currently in the game can hope that what young stars are brining to the table ... and existing commodities (like A'ja Wilson, Alyssa Thomas, and Napheesa Collier ... among many others) are doing ... then hopefully that continues to garner a high-level of attention and elevate the game. Hopefully that then can be leveraged to raise their rates of compensation.

And having Cardosa in the game helps Reese get more rebounds and points. Look how many double doubles Reese had in the games Cardosa didn’t play when she was injured…1 double double in seven games. Since Cardosa got back to paying full time she’s had a double double in every game. Cardosa boxes out the other team’s biggest player which allows Reese to run in and get the rebound without boxing out.It certainly doesn't hurt that she has a 7'0 wingspan in a league where no one can jump.
She's a huge asset, every team would want someone who eats glass like she does, but someone needs to get it through her head she is on the team to play d, get boards, and put backs. She should not be a focal point of an offense but she, and her coach, seem to think she is.
Kamila was playing great yesterday as the team was leading, they took her out and lost the lead. Many believe coach is looking to pad AR's stats at the cost of losing games.
That's hard to believe, but it's odd not to be playing your top pick who has been playing well down the stretch of a close game.
