Make of it what you will, but it seems far fetched if for no other reason than they are going to Rutgers. LOL.

The guy claiming this was an 2 time AA for Rutgers in the 80s. He now lives in Colorado. He obviously heard something but I don't see it happening. Not saying I know everything but I have my finger on the pulse of what's going on. Also I haven't heard Willie say anything about it. Anthony thinks because he was a AA that makes him a insider. Most insiders in wrestling were never AAs but he feels that truly matters 🤷

I agree it's far fetched, but I just shared because it makes for interesting discussion.

Probably depends on the definition of "elite." My guess is that Rutgers has a lower bar for what/who is.
He claims both are "Suriano level" transfers, which would mean potential national champs. For Iowa, if that's not an exaggeration, he said guys who have already used their RS, so that would exclude Angelo and leave basically Gabe or Kueter. Neither of those guys make any sense at all to me, though. You could include PK as well if you lower the standard just a smidge, although, if he were to be considering a transfer, it doesn't seem likely that Rutgers would be on his radar in any way at all.

For PSU, there are more choices. The PSU guy supposedly still has a RS left, so there are guys in the lineup now like Kasak or Haines plus the incoming guys like Lilledahl, Sealey, or Ryder. PSU *IS* going to lose elite level guys in the portal. It's inevitable. They don't have spots for all of their hammers. It's just a matter of who.

I agree with that completely. Gabe may not be able to wrestle at his preferred weight this year, but transferring because of that reason alone seems highly unlikely. PSU will lose a number of their recruits unless they simply want to train in the room for non-collegiate competitions.

There is only one guy that would fit in this scenario and I can't see it. For PSU, it could happen just because geography and the loaded depth chart.

yes.....yes you are. But apologies accepted. I figured by now you people, and yes I mean "YOU" people would have figured out my family and I by now, but alas..... you have not. So, let me give you guys the inside scoop:

- My kid is wrestling the weight I think he should be wrestling this weekend. I don't question it, and I never will. It's not my place to. I trust Tom with everything, otherwise my family and I would not even be here.
- I think it's where he belongs because none of you can really appreciate how much this kid has been beefing up. Can he get back to 174? Of course, and if that is where he is called to go, he will answer the call, and there will not be a complaint from him or me.
- I've raised my son to always trust the process. I cannot tell you how many fools have reached out to ask if Gabe would ever transfer. After a few chose words, and also using sign language they got the picture.
- I had a call from a dear friend yesterday calling me to tell me to keep my head up. I said, "why"? Well because Gabe lost his wrestle-off. I literally busted out laughing. Not because there never was one, but because he thought I needed encouragement. This is wrestling and if and when there is a wrestle-off, someone will lose. But my feelings, nor my kid's will be hurt. #itsjustwrestling.

I'll probably vanish again after this post. Mostly because my wife is usually behind my shoulder reading and well....... she's a bit of a mama bear and will come at most with claws and fangs bearing. I, on the other hand enjoy watching the banter. It honestly is fun reading other's opinions and couch coaching perspectives.

So Let's Go Hawks. Kill 'em all, and let God sort 'em out!

I'll catch you in the funny pages!
Based on numerous posts like this one from Coach, it seems like the Arnold’s are very happy members of the Iowa wrestling family.

Gabe will not be heading to Rutgers no need to worry
This is the part that might be the most baffling. Why would any elite wrestler leave either PSU or Iowa for Rutgers? Suriano did it because it was close to home for him, not for wrestling reasons. Does that apply to anyone on either PSU or Iowa right now?

I think for the guys who are going to be squeezed from PSU, they will all go there and RS the first year then shoot their shot at a lineup spot in their second year, and by then, if it's looking bleak that they will ever crack the starting lineup, look to portal. That would give them 2 full years training at PSU before leaving to start. They may or may not get a year as a bridge type starter until another elite guy comes in and takes the spot as well. That is the path that Facundo is on with a 4th year for an ORS tacked on as well. If he doesn't beat out Kasak for 157, which seems unlikely, he'll transfer out after this season and have a whole line of suitors where he can go start with two years of eligibility left.

No high level guys on either team are from NJ besides Van Ness. And he said Van Ness isn't one of them . This is all nonsense I don't see anyone heading to Rutgers

The only person on Iowa that has any connection to Rutgers whatsoever is Angelo Ferrari. The Ferrari’s lived in Jersey for a bit and Rutgers was listed in his top 3. I’d wager he’s a Suriano type for sure. He seems pretty happy to be a Hawk in all his interviews. He talks a lot about his partners in the room being great based on all the different looks they give him. He also seems to really like and respect Tom Brands.

Yeah, it specifically says that the Iowa transfer has used his RS already, which would seem to exclude Angelo, but that could be wrong, I guess.

Wouldn’t Drake, Caliendo and Arnold fit, not paying any attention to the likelihoods … ?

I am not sure why anyone is giving this thread attention (to include me). Iowa is not losing any elite wrestler and the only one with a connection to Rutgers is Ferrari. He isn’t leaving and if he went anywhere — it wouldn’t be Rutgers.

I wouldn’t be surprised if AJ went there next year.

Why? To be in the lineup would come to mind.

I am so Sorry for being late. I had some oxtail, rice and peas, cabbage, and fried plantains for dinner last night. I actually found it at a new place here in Iowa. It's called Island vybz. If you know where Fin & Feather is, it's across the street in that little strip mall where that hardware store is. I'll be honest, it's just as good, if not BETTER than what I've had while in the Caribbean. When I say the meat falls off the bone....... MELTS in your mouth.

Wait! I digress. Anyway, I started working out with Jerimiah Moody. He's doing personal training, and well, if you've seen me, it's rather obvious that's something I could really benefit from. I just got home like ten minutes ago. IT WAS BRUTAL!! I am so freaking sore. I sat down and of course figured I would enjoy the reading at my desk in the man-cave. But get this: That oxtail started talking back to me. And I mean REALLY started talking. I barely made it to my potty, and when I say it cut loose, it cut LOOSE. Now hears where it gets really bad. I get finished doing the "doo" look over and realize my loving son had stopped by earlier today before practice and relieved himself in MY throne room! I don't know about you, but some things are sacred. and THAT's one of them. I scream to to wife! No answer, damn dog is just sitting there looking at me. He ain't no help! What's a man to do.......

Then it dawned on me. With my pants around my ankles, I hop up and do the little waddle dance to my computer. Thankfully this note from Random was still up. I hit the print button and waddled back to the bathroom closing the door behind me. You see boys and girls, I really have enough crap in my life right now.....

So I printed this and used it for toilet paper. . . . It served it's PERFECT purpose.

This holiday season when we’re discussing what we’re thankful for, Coach Phil on HR is at the top of my list. He’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year round.

not to rag on Tom even more, but I heard the new guys coming in were getting a lot more money than some of the returning AA, even the runner up. Some felt disrespected—-and almost left this summer. They got NIL increased enough to stay, but still not near what new transfers got. Obviously guys talk openly, so things need to be managed better.

Also heard what is probably reliable info that ISUs studs get 75k each. Definitely less than ours.
