So unless Davis could cut to 125 again he could get squeezed out next year unless Blaze redshirts, but he could challenge for a championship as true freshman.I believe Blaze will be a 141. Lilledahl will only be 125 for 1 year it's looking like.

Don't you mean mic! It’s that damn autocorrect, Mike! 😂
Seriously have no idea who would transfer out at either school that is a current starter or previous starter. Non starter I get but why would you leave either situation… I figured most would understand I was using sarcasm. By the way I can understand why he likes Casey. He is easily my favorite non Iowa coach.LOL. Mesenbrink? He ain't going NO WHERE. He loves Carl and Casey. And he's the starter. So why would he even think of going anywhere else?
Nagao should definitely leave. Blaze comes in next year, and he's going where ever he wants.
He knows, I also know that you and spoons are 180° different direction in thought but spoons and Spooner, sometimes I mess that up too. I just don't post when I do, thank god.WTF? I’ve been advocating FOR recruiting over guys for many years. It’s a coach’s JOB to do so.
This is the word on the street, so Davis is going to get the squeeze eventually anyway. Unless Blaze takes a RS, next year will be 125 Desmond, 133 Lilledahl, 141 Blaze, 149 Van Ness. Davis will have the option of either trying to cut back to 125, which is probably not possible, or trying to beat out Lilledahl, Blaze, or SVN, who will all be nationals comtenders (if not favorites). His cut was pretty tough last year, and his plan was to RS at 133 until Howard was injured again (and eventually retired from competition). He took one for the team and got down to 125, but he struggled with it.I believe Blaze will be a 141. Lilledahl will only be 125 for 1 year it's looking like.
He WANTS to be at Penn State. He took his shot at cutting to 157 to get back in the lineup. It didn't work. I think it's likely he will portal out for next season with two years of eligibility left.I'm honestly surprised Facundo isn't in the portal yet trying to wrestle 2nd semester somewhere. Could go to his more natural weight of 165.
Bo and Jax will be bigger by the time they are in college, probably 149-165 range. I doubt PSU will get both. I think they will go hard after Bassett to wrestle 149 after Van Ness leaves. Jax seems ticketed to Ok St.They should know if they landed Bo and Forrest by then. If they land both, he will have to hit the bricks.
Guys truly love it there and give themselves every opportunity to make the lineup before exploring other options. He WANTS to be at Penn State. You can play this scenario out at almost every weight at Penn st. They're loaded up and down the line up. Barr now being a 197 and Ryder a 184 means Mirasola or someone will be sitting as well. Good problems to have that's for sureThis is the word on the street, so Davis is going to get the squeeze eventually anyway. I wonder if this perception would change if Davis ends up getting top 3 at nationals this year…This is the word on the street, so Davis is going to get the squeeze eventually anyway. Things that aren’t happening for $1000 AlexI wonder if this perception would change if Davis ends up getting top 3 at nationals this year…
That would probably nudge Cael into leaning on Blaze to take a RS year to get one more year out of Davis at 141, but if Blaze doesn’t want to RS, then I don’t see a world where Davis beats him out for the spot.I wonder if this perception would change if Davis ends up getting top 3 at nationals this year…
You’re just pouring gas straight on the fire.I’m not sure he knows what he meant
I mean Davis did get the #1 seed at 125.. ppl could argue 133 is way tougher but I do think there is a chance Davis could get top 3 at nationals… I mean everyone thought Nagao coulda top 3 last year and a healthy Nagao and Davis is prolly pretty close..That would probably nudge Cael into leaning on Blaze to take a RS year to get one more year out of Davis at 141, but if Blaze doesn’t want to RS, then I don’t see a world where Davis beats him out for the spot.
I would be shocked if Davis is top 3 anyway. As a PSU fan, I’m hoping he AAs any place on the podium. That would be a great result for him. PSU is probably going to have 8 top 3 seeds, and Barr could slip in as the 9th because 197 is pretty wide open this year below Buchanan. All 10 is an unreasonable expectation.
At the SS maybe!I wonder if this perception would change if Davis ends up getting top 3 at nationals this year…
Um, at 165 they are probably pretty effen close. Let's not forget they wrestled off when Kennedy was not in shape and Kennedy has been wrestling up a weight when he's failed to AA. I never said he was better but as far as wrestling goes, they are very comparable wrestlers. Kennedy represented the US at U23 Worlds. How big of a difference do you think there is? If I compared Siebrecht to Teemer I can see your point. Brands AA'd and Kennedy never did, does that means he's obviously better than Kennedy? Back to your own forums, loser.A never have AAed (PK) is as good as a 2 X AA (Caliendo)? Dang, that is an interesting use of rationalization and subjectivity.
He's not transferring. Have you not seen his recent X post where he talks about his coaches traveling with him overseas and why he loves buying books for them. He loves PSUI could see nago transferring again with all the talent they are stacking up around his weight, but why would Mess want to transfer a third time??
I like our chances better for Jax than Bo. We still have a shot at both. I honestly think it’s down to Iowa and Oklahoma St. for both. Ohio State could snag Bo being closer to home but I just don’t see either one at psu right now.Bo and Jax will be bigger by the time they are in college, probably 149-165 range. I doubt PSU will get both. I think they will go hard after Bassett to wrestle 149 after Van Ness leaves. Jax seems ticketed to Ok St.
PK has been the better wrestler by the eye test so far this year, and it's not even really close. Caliendo was terrific last year, but in the two matches I've watched (Stanford and ISU), he has been very shaky to say the least while PK was in beast mode in the ISU match coming off U23 worlds. Caliendo has obviously had more success at the college level so far, but PK was a higher rated recruit, so I don't think it's crystal clear who is better.Um, at 165 they are probably pretty effen close. Rating as a recruit remotely matters 3-5 years into their careers? Do yourself a favor and toss that except in the context of evaluating how each has done relative to expectations.PK has been the better wrestler by the eye test so far this year, and it's not even really close. It doesn't matter much, but the fact that PK has been significantly better than Caliendo on the mat this year so far brings it back into context, especially in light of PK making U23 worlds. It looks like he might finally be realizing his potential.Rating as a recruit remotely matters 3-5 years into their careers? I’m 100% in favor of keeping PK in the lineup at 74 but to say he’s looked better than Caliendo this year is comparing apples to oranges. PK dominated Riggins which he should have; meanwhile Caliendo was wrestling a top 5 guy at his weight and a guy sent out on the mat to keep it as close as possible. It doesn't matter much, but the fact that PK has been significantly better than Caliendo on the mat this year so far brings it back into context, especially in light of PK making U23 worlds. It appears to be crystal clear to the folks who brought Caliendo to IC, no?Rating as a recruit remotely matters 3-5 years into their careers? Do yourself a favor and toss that except in the context of evaluating how each has done relative to expectations.

Hunter Garvin is a returning AA so clearly top competition, but he had Caliendo on the ropes until he gassed halfway through the match from having to make weight for the second day in a row where Caliendo didn't. Connor Euton is a room guy who was wrestling on a torn ACL, so I don't see much difference between him and Riggins, and PK was far more impressive in that match. We'll see how the season goes because there is still a lot of wrestling left, but so far, Caliendo has been unimpressive.I’m 100% in favor of keeping PK in the lineup at 74 but to say he’s looked better than Caliendo this year is comparing apples to oranges. Stop making excuses for PK. I love the guy, went nuts when his intro song started against isu, but Caliendo is a 2x AA (4th place in a tough weight last year) and beat PK soundly at SS.Um, at 165 they are probably pretty effen close. I'm guessing MC would also go beast mode on Riggins, everyone does. That doesn't prove much.PK has been the better wrestler by the eye test so far this year, and it's not even really close. You need to follow the thread. I never said that PK was better than Caliendo. I said we have someone "just as good" with Kennedy on the bench. I was blasted by someone who couldn't believe I would compare a 0xAA to a 2xAA. Where I replied that it appears a 0xAA is actually better than a 1xAA (Brands).Stop making excuses for PK. I love the guy, went nuts when his intro song started against isu, but Caliendo is a 2x AA (4th place in a tough weight last year) and beat PK soundly at SS.
I think our best lineup now is MC, PK and toss up at 184 with Gabe and Angelo.
But Caliendo has gotten it done on the biggest stage, period!
