Ryan Day

If he doesn't make the Final 4 he's fired right?
If this were his first loss to Michigan in a while, I'd say he's safe still.

But he's now 0-3 or 0-4 in the last same amount of games, and today's win made Michigan 5-4/7-5. Loss also choked away a seemingly locked-in B1GCG appearance away.

Yeah, I'd have to say that if he doesn't get the Buckeyes to the F4, his seat warmth is going to be scorching.

Good lord, if he is canned, Iowa should pay Kirk whatever it needs to get Kirk down the road. Ryan Day is a good coach.
He can’t win with 40 plus four and five star guys. How does he win with two and three star guys and the occasional four or five stars?

I will say, Day can’t be blamed for the terrible qb play and bad kicking but it’s his responsibility as HC.

Ohio State was a 20.5 point favorite today.

They are now 10-2, won't play in the B1G title game, and essentially are the 3rd best team in the B1G.

They have spent $20M in NIL on this roster.

National Championship or bust, imo.

They lost today partially because of special team, Will Howard is not a great QB. Add Parker, and Woods to that staff and OSU wins by 20+. I bet he'd still recruit well at Iowa.

Is he? I'm not being critical. I'm saying based on the talent he has available? Losing record to Michigan. (this year a 6-5 Michigan team). 3-7 against other top 5 ranked teams. Zero B1G championships last 4 years. I mean he's a good coach I guess, but is he REALLY an upgrade over the coaches at the top 7 or 8 other conference schools as HC? Based on what?

Lets be fair here. Is Kirk not blamed for poor QB play or other positions? Was Howard the best guy THEY could get? How many QB's have transferred out of OSU in the last 4 years? Did he keep the right ones?

During the game they kept saying 23.5 pt favorites. I don't know, I don't really follow betting lines. Just thought that was a crazy line for an OSU vs M game.....

you don't have to follow them, that is where the betting line nets 50/50 wagering. Nothing more.

All head coaches are. The difference is there are certain expectations that must be met at tOSU vs Iowa. Either you win at tOSU or you are gone for not winning B1G titles or playing for a national championship. Add in, beating Michigan.

At Iowa, KF has done a good job but hasn’t won a B1G title since 2004 and is in no jeopardy of losing his job or experienced any heat at all. I wish Iowa had pursued Kyle McCord after last season or Ty Thompson but KF was committed to Cade McNamara which proved to be a mistake. tOSU qb room is deep and good. Just amazed they thought Will Howard was the answer to their need.

Na, OSU should have paid Cam Ward, and he would have gone there.

I'm not disagreeing, thats my point. Poster says that Day should not be too blame for Howards play? Really? He has access to players no one else can get. So he is responsible...

Is he tho? Your local hs coach is winning 90% of the games on their schedule with the talent gap they have. When it comes to big games, he hasn’t done too well.

After the last two embarrassing losses to UM they had to win today at home.

Exactly, which is why he is responsible for their QB play....
you asked if Ward was the best guy THEY could get. Their NIL did not want to pay Cam Ward according to the rumors. I don't have direct evidence of this, but that was the word that Miami outbid them.

No, I asked if Howard was the best guy they could get. He was okay at KSU but not sure they couldn't have done better, and thats without going back the last three years and looking at the QB's that have left OSU, and who's on their roster now. Would Rourke at Indiana, Brosmer at Minnesota, or Gabriel at Oregon have been better? They all transferred in this year, and OSU has the war chest supposedly. Basically is it Day's responsibility for their QB play. Yes he is....

Who left that would have been better than Howard? The only one I could say is Ewers, and there is no argument that OSU got the better of that with Stroud.

As I said I don't know. Would Gabriel at Oregon, Rourke at Indiana, or Brosmer at Minn. been better at OSU the Howard?

Has Ferentz won an outright Big Ten title ?

They tried to land Gabriel and he turned them down, Brosmer and Rourke haven't really proven themselves, but maybe. I'll say they tried to get Gabriel and Ward, NIL failed them. Hell OSU was lucky to hang onto Smith after Miami made a late charge. I would say they should have turned to a backup QB at some point, and that is on Day.
