Will we ever get an offensive coordinator that has a clue about coaching?! We haven't had half an offense in years and we just continue to settle for Davis.

LOL, did you think by magic they would install an entire new playbook in a week.
I think there is a lot to be desired about Iowa's offense but it's way out of bounds dreaming that it would be drastically different week to week.

Better give big Kitk another extension for consistently having one of the most anemic offenses in the country. Pathetic.

The problem isn't the play calling, Iowa doesn't have any playmakers at WR. Even when CJB gets time to throw there is never anyone open. Slow WR's. Unless some FR step up Iowa needs to basically abandon the passing game and just play smash mouth football. Their WR's aren't going to beat anyone. Run the ball, run the ball, run the ball. It's been a while since I've seen an offense so devoid of playmakers as Iowa's offense.

Who's to blame for that? I don't blame the WRs. Blame the coaches that recruit the lack of athletes and playmakers. As long as we have Kirk, the game plan will always be the same. We have the need for speed.

This.

I'm so F'ing tired of people bypassing the head coach with their ire.

Cowards by not addressing the real problem.
Fair point, but at least there was hope under O'Keefe, and his QBs went deep once in a blue moon and had solid years. Davis took an already conservative offense and moved it to right of the Wishbone and Wing T.

Beathard hele the ball almost 7 seconds and couldn't find anyone open. I think we miss Tevaun Smith quite a bit this year. Our only advantage in the passing game is kittle.

But do we still want to fire a few coaches if we win all but say, two game? It was a win, lets enjoy that and root for a good season. We lost a lot on offense to graduation. Let's give it some more time shall we?

I thought we were gonna see that True Freshman get some PT?? What ever happened to that???

It will never change as long as KF is the head coach. The guy is absolutely the softest and least creative coach in the nation making 4+ million annually. Pathetic coaching and we always seem unprepared. Do these guys actually practice, because on Saturday it sure does not look like it.

Iowa is the easiest team to prepare for again offensively. Teams are literally jumping routes before the Iowa receiver gets there. Part of it's due to the talent at receiver, the much larger factor is their scheme. On a completion today, Iowa had 3 receivers on the same side running routes within 7 yards of the LOS

Cowards huh. Lol I guarantee that Kirk and his coaches will not see this thread. So how is that being a coward saying something that will never get read by the people you want to read it. Lol

What a dumb post.

It was intended for those that criticize the OC and bypass Ferentz.

I couldn't care less if Ferentz saw this or not.

Don't really think you can pin this one on GD. Our O-Line looks awful running the ball and our receivers are not getting separation at all

7 seconds! Don't doubt you at all, but still checked out 7 seconds on my watch. Hell, the Chinese Wall couldn't keep a BIG-TEN DT away that long. But by the 4th or 5th count, Beathard should be rifling the ball to a cheer-leader or a hot-dog vendor. The RS freshman Badger QB did that all day; by now that should be automatic for CJ.

Lol. Lose two games. Give it some time , time for a new coach. This anemic, bonehead, style of football is unbearable.

That's what you get when pan nursing homes around the country for a coach!

Agree, they haven't recruited enough talented WR's, but my point was the problem wasn't the play calling. Unless the WR's make a big step forward they should focus on running the ball. In fact, I'm not sure Iowa will ever consistently recruit the WR's to throw the ball around, so I'd prefer they followed the Wis model and just play smash mouth. Get stud OL's and get stud RB's. Get a QB who can run and is a good game manager. Win games by running the football and great defense.

Cj starting to look like ruddock. I do like that he looked to run today.
If he gets 30 yards rushing in a game I think we win.

Tevaun was the best receiver Davis brought in....Jerminic still needs some work. Vandenberg is a #2 possession guy, not fast enough to get consistently open. McCarron is smaller, slower version of Vandenberg.

Yeah, would be nice to have great defense and try that run domination thing, but with so-so defense and mediocre OL and no receiving threats, you can't impose your will and just run the ball.

I've never been too happy with Iowa's limited offensive playbook, but I think the ineptitude on offense had more to do with the offensive line play as well as receivers not getting open. CJ also does not appear healthy, confident, or as accurate as early season--of course, I don't know too many QBs who would be confident and accurate with the pocket constantly collapsing on him. He looked like he was in shock at times during the game. Some of the poor line play could be due to predictable blocking schemes, I don't know. James Daniels is clearly the best OL, though. He's exceptional in the run game and pretty good in pass blocking. The two former walk-ons aren't playing too well, though. That hurts.

That might have been the most boring excuse for a major college football game I have ever seen, especially considering that it was a tie or one-score game throughout. And I'm not a Big 12 "offense rules" type fan - I loved the '04 Penn St 6-4 game. The absolute lack of execution all over the field, with no dynamic players to be found on either side. I felt like I was watching a Wednesday night Eastern Michigan - Kent State game.

U guys are pansies. No one was complaining about the receivers last year or in 09, 10. Let the season play out
