Scott Dochterman (of the Athletic) wonders why IOWA fans want the Coaches fired after every loss

Absolute gold from Scott.

Finally someone with a clue that has the balls to say something.

There is absolutely no room for chronic negativity in the fishbowl community that is Hawkeye athletics. It in no way helps the program and most likely hurts it.

Stop spreading negativity in the community and being cancers to the program, people. If you don't think quality of environment matters, pack up your bags and move your family to Gary, Indiana

Like I said, antagonistic but from an optimistic angle (i.e. shaming people for being negative, pessimistic, or from that angle calling themselves a realist.)

Oh and 6-4, and Kirk's days are factually numbered, and in the "sooner than you think" category.......................... ;)

Listen man, you can call me whatever you want.

Anyone who has a problem with KF or Iowa football is a puke to me. They absolutely would not be welcome in my home.

Not only that, they are dumb. They multiply negativity in the environment like it has no repercussions. It can't possibly make Iowa football any better. If anything, it can only hurt the program. Why make the life of the team you root for potentially harder? It's like littering. It's simply stupid.

These people need to grow up and exercise any level of conscientiousness, or keep their thoughts to themselves. Actually, that would require being conscientious. So I guess most of these clowns need to just get lost and terminate their relationship with Hawkeye football. If you don't love it, leave it

This explains our lines getting manhandled how? This explains not even being competitive with the good teams how?
I have heard multiple times the program would love to get rid of the strength coach but they know they would have to pay a large settlement because........

I kinda think he is here one more season and there's a succession plan in place (it might be Seth Wallace as our next HC)

Why are you hating on Gary, Indiana? A lot of hard working, good people live there. You should pack up and join Brian Ferentz on the east coast in Maryland. I live out here and love it though.

People are pissed off and angry because Kirk and Brian have left this team and program in shambles. We are seeing what happens when the special teams and defense aren’t great but merely above average to good. People don’t like being gaslighted by the head coach of their own school. Before Brian Ferentz, Kirk was untouchable. After that fiasco, a lot of people are done.

Interested in knowing who the head coach is that can lead Iowa to a BIG and national championship? Who are the names being put forward? And remember, we don't want a coach who will just deliver 7-10 wins a year it must be a coach who can deliver 10+ wins every year. Names?

In shambles?
It was in shambles in the 60's and 70's before Hayden came to Iowa.
Not even close to that yet.

Absolutely. I can explain the Shakespearean tragedy that has been Iowa offensive football from 2021 to 2023. Let me know when you are ready for a lecture!
Alas poor Brian, I knew him, IChawkeye 45: a man of infinite arrogance, of most horrible offense: he hath borne the Iowa offense on his back a thousand games; and now how abhorred in our imaginations it is!

Where be your fake punts now? Your waste downs? Your questions of upside, that were wont to set the fans on a roar?

The problem with his argument is that the loss to UCLA was a program loss and that Kirk Ferentz is not going to be our coach as long as guys like Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno and Amos Alonzo Stagg, nor should he.

We're not gonna be wheeling Kirk out for his 38th season just to hold on to hope that we can rekindle the magic of the 2000s and help him chase 300 career wins.

Iowa needs to move on and the sooner the better.
And a big AMEN to that

I’ll step aside. Someone else is giving the lecture now! Tip of the hat.

Winning 8 games a year ago (2023) in the Big Ten west would be an absolute failure. Winning 8 games next year (2025) might be Kirk’s greatest accomplishment. The team loses that much, iowa has proven (outside of Nick Jackson) that it doesn’t use the portal well, and the schedule is brutal. Three teams currently in the top 5 in the country play at Kinnick next season.

So what you are saying is....... we came into the year with almost the entire defense back from a year ago where they finshed top 5. We have lost to 2 teams below us and have 2 more to play AND that is not counting the teams below us that we didn't play who may or may not be able to beat us. It was reasonable to think this team could have lost to OSU and lost one other maybe they shouldn't have. Now we have lost to ISU, OSU, MSU and UCLA. One could argue if they looked at those losses, that in each of them our lines were simply not getting it done!!! I mean if we are looking for a common theme to the loss's. I am not saying burn the whole thing down, I am saying the same thing I have been for a couple years now, EVEN WITH all KF's help the OL has not performed well for a long time. When the OL sucks, the DL suffers because that is who they practice against. I am just surprised it took this long for the DL to suffer because of the piss poor OL play for years now.
Apparently, Evans and Lee were much bigger losses than anyone realized.

I think the burn it all down crowd is over the top. I think a fair amount of the reactions are due in some respects to a lasting hangover from the BF debacle. A lot of fans are still angry with Kirk over what they see as this self inflicted disaster in which he sacrificed the program to enrich his family. That isn't going away until the Iowa passing offense isn't near last in the nation. UCLA is 110th in the nation vs the pass. Iowa still couldn't capitalize.
Don’t have time to shift through all the posts - but I’d say you are spot on. 👍

Then leave the fanbase. Nobody will miss you. Definitely not on here. Absolutely one of, if not the most, disliked posters on this board and that's saying something.

You call others negative but you're easily the most vitriolic, argumentative, and contrarian people I can think of on these boards. Even worse than Frosty. Every time I see you, you're the one arguing with others. I've yet to see you actually be positive. You come on here to fight, as always.

You're extremely ignorant (I think it's intentional honestly) but also stubborn, opinionated, and woefully wrong every time but you seem to turn it into being right somehow. If you actually think you're the lone good guy on this board and we're all bad, you're crazy too.

The only one without a clue here, has been, and remains, you. Hell, why am I even responding to you? You can't even begin to comprehend simple logic as it is. This is definitely over your head.

Man, you are one judgemental and antagonistic SOB. No other words for the stuff you post. I hate people like you in real life but I've a feeling this side of you doesn't come out much when you're actually interacting with real humans. I feel like you learned to shut up at a very early age and this must be your only way to let it out without repercussions.

IF this is “the plan” it is absolutely the most unfair plan imaginable for the school, the AD and the fan base in general. A full and proper vetting of candidates needs to be conducted. Iowa hasn’t looked for a FB coach for damn near 30 years… and the world has changed in that time.

The last time Iowa chose a coach, 1) the AD tried to sneak in someone via the back door…and he got caught. 2) The University President intervened and demanded the prescribed interview process be followed…that decision reportedly a) “cost” UIowa one popular candidate but 2) allowed UIowa to hire a very good coach.

I think it is best the AD heads up the hiring committee and has a majority of the input but it certainly has to be a collaborative hire involving administration, faculty, alumni and boosters. I am not ruling out any current staff but by no means should the line of candidates to be next coach be limited to current or former staff or players.

We always lose when we go west because we need to have 4 days or more out there because of JET LAG We beat Washington because they suffered from JET LAG.
FFS - it's only a two hour time difference. Are you suggesting that they get off the plane, suit up, and go knock helmets immediately? I'm guessing they sleep there at least 1+ nights before kickoff.

They are 18-22 year old football players. If it really is jet lag bogging them down then maybe these athlete's conditioning is not what it should be.

And we've already lost to two of those teams behind us with a chance at another coming up. At what point will you Ferentz fans acknowledge that we are a mediocre program who can only beat other mediocre programs? You watch any college football and you will surely see teams that are playing a different game than Iowa is. Someone once said that when using the forward pass, two of the three outcomes are bad and Ferentz seems to have glommed onto those two bad options, eschewing a weapon used by every successful program. The fact that our current QB was a practice team linebacker shows just how important that position is to him. It's really has become a National joke.

I'm fine with a change of coaching but Iowa will always be this type of program, in my opinion. Solid top 25 most years, occasional breakout season of a top 10 when you have a lot of upperclassmen. Lose some games they shouldn't. Win some games they shouldn't.

I've been alive almost 5 decades and it's always been this way (or worse) since I've been alive. Now bring on the "So you're fine with not winning championships or trying" crowd. Yes, I'm cool with the program as it's been for all these years. Generally, not a program that you have to be embarrassed to be a fan of on or off the field. I really do believe that we're in for some bad years after Kirk retires.
I need someone to point out when, in the last 5 years, we've beat someone we shouldn't....because I can't think of one off the top of my head. I used to be able to rattle them off like crazy because we always used to. Since we whipped OSU in 2017 (which was 7 years ago), I can't think of a single team we've beat that we shouldn't have. But I can damn sure think of a lot we've lost to that we had no business losing to.

Although I believe things have slipped some because of Doyle leaving we all know that will absolutely not happen.
Especially not after hearing how Doyle feels about being let go. I don't blame him but his impact has been felt. People thought it would be immediate but what we've witnessed the last two years is more of an indictment of his true value to our program in my opinion.

In the last 5 years, Iowa has won 8 games as the underdog...

5th best in the Big Ten in that category.

I'm not talking about betting line underdogs.....I'm talking about beating a "program" that we typically aren't expected to beat. I don't care that we beat an ISU team on the road as a 1.5 point underdog. I'm talking about legit programs that are higher up the food chain than us.

That never happens anymore. We aren’t even close in those games and haven’t been since before Covid.
