I have it on good authority Frost was hiding in a closet while Alberts was firing the four assistant coaches.
It was a thing of beauty. He pulled no punches in that article. Brutal
BF is the worst OC in the Big 10 but he ain't going nowhere and you know why. This is fake news. I was told this never happens in college football by multiple posters and ridiculed for starting a post about how we haven't fired Brian Ferentz.
I think they were as well, which makes this move so stupid. Will the team really perform better after firing 4 coaches at this point in the season? So who are the new position coaches now, because they sure can't replace them now? This will really put the scrutiny squarely on Frost shoulders. Good luck Scotty.....I may be in the minority, but I think NE is close to turning the corner. It doesn't take a sleuth to understand that they've been right in it with the best teams in the East -- played tOSU to basically a tie if their kicker had converted those 2 FG's, should have won at MSU, and was right there with Michigan. I'd prefer to see Frost get the boot so they have to start over with the HC position getting less and less desirable, but I'm concerned that he has it going in the right direction.
EDIT: Just read Forde's article in which he tries to debunk the "close losses to good teams" narrative. I don't think he did much to debunk the theory. They were pretty darn competitive with all of those teams despite many "experts" predicting otherwise. Forde notes the losses to Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota. Well, Illinois now has wins at PSU and Minnesota and is showing a pulse. Purdue blew out Iowa and beat an excellent MSU team. Minnesota won at Purdue. Those three teams aren't world-beaters, but they've proven capable of beating good teams.
Frost doesn't seem to have lost his team, and considering all of the extraordinarily frustrating losses this year that could so easily have been wins, that's a positive. I'd love for him to continue to struggle and I'm not predicting that he won't, but I think we're kidding ourselves if we try to pretend that there's no evidence that his program is making progress.
No doubt, and then they fire half the staff with several games to go? Yea, thats some restraint alright....This tweets hilarious. How many coaches have they had since Osborne? I'm counting 6, yes they've really used restraint.
Wish USC, LSU, and I'm sure others soon, Nebraska won't be hiring anyone better than Frost this off season. This tweets hilarious. How many coaches have they had since Osborne? I'm counting 6, yes they've really used restraint.
He’s done after next year regardless.
I'm sure this has absolutely nothing to do with the $20 million they'd owe and this:This tweets hilarious. How many coaches have they had since Osborne? I'm counting 6, yes they've really used restraint.
I read somewhere that 3 of those coaches go back to 2016 and were with him at UCF which means they were more than coaches but probably friends. It's hard to believe these coaches from a 2017 undefeated UCF team are no longer considered valuable.I think they were as well, which makes this move so stupid. Nebraska in second place isn't a good thing. 😂I'm sure this has absolutely nothing to do with the $20 million they'd owe and this:
The boom of dead money in college sports
What did FBS schools pay football and basketball coaches not to coach? The numbers will surprise you.www.espn.com
Great point.fire ours and hire them. They are a vast improvement
Nebraska HC Coach Scott Frost announced Monday that the Huskers have parted ways with 4 assistant coaches effective immediately.
Offensive Coordinator/wide receivers coach Matt Lubick Offensive line coach/run game Coordinator Greg Austin, RB Coach Ryan Held and QB Coach Mario Verduzco are no longer with the program.
In search of 'fresh ideas and voices,' Husker HC Scott Frost fires four offensive assistants
Alberts didn’t want to step on Scott Frost’s toes, but said he “wouldn’t be surprised,” if Frost looked for a coordinator to handle play-calling.journalstar.com
Let's take a look under the hood should we?Some of you guys sound like you actually would prefer to lose 7 games than win 7 games…
Of course, this is what losing coaches always do.Sounds like he threw his assistants under the rug to save his own ass. NU just can't admit they made a mistake. I'll give him 2-3 more years and then the coaching carousel will continue.
Frost said, “They are all men of outstanding character and good coaches, but as we strive for better consistency and execution, we needed fresh ideas and voices on our offensive staff.” What assistant coach would want to move to fricking Lincoln, Nebraska and probably be fired along with Frost a year from now.
Pat Forde makes me laugh my ass off. https://www.si.com/.amp/college/2021/11/08/scott-frost-returns-nebraska-football-2022
I hate to agree with you but I also feel they’re turning the corner. The head scratcher is they’ve been competitive in every game regardless of opponent. Personally I think it comes down to Martinez trying to do more than he’s capable of.

Yes, there has been progress made. Both lines have developed, the defense is a lot better and he has brought in talent.

Alberts knows he’s not doing any better than Frost. This little act buys him and Flop several more years. Those fans are so hopelessly stuck in the 90’s they’ll buy anything that indicates change is progressive and betterment.
Yup, really classless move, kind of what you expect from that program. Can't imagine that sits well with the players, seeing their position coaches thrown under the bus.Sounds like he threw his assistants under the rug to save his own ass. NU just can't admit they made a mistake. I'll give him 2-3 more years and then the coaching carousel will continue.
Would disagree, Wisconsin and Purdue are playing well and are very capable.Let's take a look under the should we?
Losing to Purdue at home and looking completely helpless and overwhelmed is inexcusable .
Losing to Wisconsin with less than 20 yards of offense in the first half would get most OC's fired.
Playing one of the worst teams in the B1G and relying on an interception to win by 5 points doesn't exude confidence.
Then we, Iowa have no business being ranked or Purdue should be ranked and ranked above us. Which is it?Would disagree, Wisconsin and Purdue are playing well and are very capable.
I dont think so. I dont think anyone will be able to bring Nebby to what they were. Maybe some top 10s and a Big10 title game every 10 years, but the days of contending for a title are long goneSerious question. If Flop can't turn this thing around, can anyone? Even if they identify "anyone," will that person want to coach/live in Lincoln and agree to become the next head coach?
Actually, it looks like a rock solid move by Trev - cut $1M from Frost’s salary and slashed the buyout beginning next year. I would imagine next year will be Frost’s last at Nebraska unless he’s able to flip things around pretty substantially.Sounds like he threw his assistants under the rug to save his own ass. NU just can't admit they made a mistake. I'll give him 2-3 more years and then the coaching carousel will continue.

there had to be compromising pics or something else incriminating involved. nobody can be dumb enough to voluntarily take that deal. that ad’s crushed sf. wow.Trev just divulged the new contract layout. 4mil next year down from 5mil.
7.5 mil buyout, down from 15 mil.
Sounds like Trev has practiced negotiating skills at UNO.
He pulled no punches in that article. Brutal
Disagree …….. he is 90% of their offense, take him away - they really don’t have much else….I too think Nebraska is turning the corner, and if they don't make their usual stupid mistakes I think they beat us this year. Our offense will have trouble moving the ball on them, and Martinez will probably look like an All-American against us.
