Couple of buddies went one of the last years. Got picked up by some random guy when they were walking back in the middle of the night. After a bit they stopped and picked up another random guy. Driving through town and come to a stop sign and the driver looks in the mirror and says shit there’s a cop behind me. About then the cop throws his lights on.
My buddies and the other random guy were feeling bad for him getting pulled over…well the driver had other plans, he put it to the floor and started flying through town. My buddies were urging him to pull over, but he said he stole the car and there’s no way in hell he’s stopping!
After a few minutes and getting some separation from the cops he pulled over and told my buddies they can get out if they went. They quick jumped out but when they looked back they saw the other guy was still in the car! They said the look of horror on his face was priceless. Soon as my buddies got out the cops came around the corner and made them hit the dirt and handcuffed them and asked a bunch of questions. They found out later, after a couple blocks the driver stopped and let the other guy out.
The following week they got a call wanting them to come in and answer some questions. Turns out the driver got away, mainly because he dropped those guys off and the cops had to stop and deal with them. He made it out of Ames and north a couple hours where eventually the car was found…totally burnt up /CSB
