Season is over. Time to focus on a new coach

I don’t know who else you’d call?

There’s a fraction at top programs that are sleeze bags, and then there are the ones at top programs that aren’t going anywhere. The two aforementioned are winners and at a reasonable cost.

Season is over for Iowa Fans....I mean we can watch it, but this at best is an NIT team. They might not even make the B1G tournament.

Whether it is over for Fran or not, that is up to the Athletic department director. The lack of attendance is a sign of disinterest in Fran ball. I think college men's basketball is going to have an attendance problem. Between Womens basketball competing for eyeballs and the NIL making it a professional game, you gotta win to get people to go to Carver.

Yep. They just so happen to be Iowans.

And why do Hawk fans keep bringing up Steve Forbes? He hasn’t really done that much.

I may be wrong, but I don’t see Beth firing Fran…at least not this season.
Hard pass on Forbes. Last thing we need to follow Fran IMO is another coach in his 60s (he's 59 right now) that's never really had any notable success in a major conference.

I'd support a Devries or McCollum hire, though.

Don't mess around. Get Bruce Pearl. He will have this place rocking for a few years. Then pass the torch to a protege / assistant, who can lead from that point on, with no drop off.

I'll say it again. If Fran is here next year, unless Iowa miraculously goes 11-9 in conference this year making the tournament, then you might as well move the games to Xtream Arena because the butts in seats wouldn't even sell that place out next year. The reality is that this team probably wins one or two more games. They may barely make the conference tournament then the season is over. That is unacceptable at Iowa, especially on top of last year.

Is it acceptable with half of the conference games played without their best player?

Not a lot of margin for error in this league

How it happens Im not sure. But the end is here. To see Carver barely half full for this game is just sad.

Beth has someone in mind, Im sure. Who is it?
I heard this second hand, but a dad of a kid being recruited said it will be Gatens. We will see, I guess. I wondered how Fran is getting commits when most likely he won't be here next year.

agreed. NIL made every coach clean. No need to cheat or operate on the edges now.

Pearl is getting it done in NIL era, others are not.

You think Matt Gatens is qualified to be the head coach of a Big Ten team?
I don't know....was Hoiberg qualified to coach a Big 12 team when ISU hired him? Gatens actually has more experience coaching than Hoiberg did when ISU hired him. That seemed to work pretty well for them. Not saying it would work in this situation, but it's not like it's not been tried and worked before either.
