Session III - PBP

I think we should all admire Cash's efforts this tournament. I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I knew he had it in him to pull of these wins. He's always been consistent on losing those close matches. Glad he's breaking through and I hope he ends his day with an All American finish secured. With that being said, let's go Gilman, Clark, Sorenson, and Brooks in the semi's. Also, Alex Meyer go get your 2nd all American finish. Go Hawks

Cash got that one entirely on guts. Great effort.

Penn in state tuition helps and being creative with out of state tuition.
Bad assumption.... Penn State's cost of attendance for instate students is $36,388 while Iowa's is $21,625. Cost of Attendance for out of State @ Penn State is $50,870 while Iowa's is $41,713. I have mentioned on this board previously how significant the tax payer subsidies for tuition is at Iowa compared to other Big Ten Schools.

Help me on this. Did Cash get a 1 point escape or was he awarded a penalty point when the guy started before the whistle.

I've heard of the ref calling it on a neutral when the wrestler doesn't have his foot on the line. Happened twice to a kid from the same ref two years in a row.

He touched him. The arm or maybe the head. The kid knew he did it right away.

Maybe I'm confusing the comment. Did Cash escape on the restart, or because the dude was clapping?

I just watched it again.

The clapping isn't important. He did did it while walking back to center for a restart. It wasn't a celebration. He was just excited, having taken the lead. Wilcke escaped on the restart.

On the restart in the 2nd OT, Mattice reached over and put his hand on Wilcke's head before the whistle. It was way early, before the ref even had a chance to blow the whistle. He got an earlier caution for the same move. Match over.

To give us a feel for the national championship:
Semis: 5 for 5 = 35 points (PSU) = 109 + bonus + 3 left in the consis
Semis: 4 for 4 = 28 points (Iowa) = 86 points + bonus + 3 left in the consis
Semis: 4 for 4 = 28 points (Tanner U) = 87 + bonus + 2 left in the consis

Everything is still in play. Except the okies would need a Penn State collapse and a miracle.

Would be great if we went 3-0 in the semi's against PSU & OSU

The okies would need PSU to have an okie-like collapse. They definitely soiled the linen up until now.

Cash freaking Wilcke is going to be wrestling to be an All American. That is freaking crazy given what we've seen this season To be fair, he's had a very fortuitous path, hasn't run into any of the big dogs to drop down. Still, it's insane.
