Session IV Thread

I just kept hearing this song while watching McIntosh wrestle. Also sad that Burak was not able to chase him down and score a takedown..

Iowa just doesn't have the lineup recipe to keep up with PSU and I'm not sure I see them in the future having it either. Just to many holes and to many guys walking fine lines during the tournament. Anytime you have three guys make the finals you would think we would have a shot but just way to many holes and then to many guys that end up finishing 8th - 6th instead of top 4.
Come back Monday to talk about that.

Burak has been a good supporting cast member. He scored more team points than 141, 157, 165, and 285 combined. Getting to the semis was the highest hopes I had for him--I don't mean that as faint praise either.

You people cant seriously think that was a solid effort by Burak. 1 legit shot...1. I know Morgan is good but, its not like Burak should've just sat back. Sure he pushed but 1 legit shot.
He was content to lose a close match to McIntosh. Burak has closed the gap, but he's gotta figure out a way to get at least one takedown to finally get over the top.

But anyway, now that the match is over, McIntosh can hit the tanning beds some more.

My post clearly went over your head.
No, you're post was clearly not based on the facts of how good these two have been. Winning 30 of 32 matches by major or more isn't only about a soft weight class. It also is nice to not consider Retherford is only a soph, Mega has another year, Conaway is much improved and Nevills will be back. Oh and Hall is headd there.
I'm not crowning them yet but it's going to take significant injuries or something weird for psu to not win the next 3. Just being realistic about the challenge ahead.

It's sad that after 4 years this is what he can be described as. Very frustrating to watch him compete at times. He has some good tools, too.

Mega is gone after this year.

With Burak's height, he should have been doing something else, use that length to your advantage. That is on the staff for not forcing him to diversify his attacks. He had a 2 attempt at low attacks, just had to push that from period 1.

If Gillman goes after Mega like he did Nato he will take him out. Would be nice also if the reffs would call the stalling on Nato and Mega but guess that is asking to much of them no balls must all be gay shame on me lol

Mega, Conaway and Morgan are all seniors. Lots of points to make up.

Mega ==> Suriano
Conaway ==> Cortez (who beat Conaway this year)
McIntosh ==> Cassar(?) National jr champ; Nevills has a little brother on the way too.

Well then Penn State needs to stop wrestling or try harder to lose. They did that at time in this tournament which was nice to see, but there's always room for improvement. If only another program could work on getting their wrestlers to have larger heads and bigger hands and arms than Penn State's guys. That'd make a difference too...........not that I'm implying anything.

Mega is gone after this year.
So is conway we need to just get Kemdog and Sorensen 49 & 57 maybe meyer should move up to 184 and brooks to 197 stoll gets healthy we can make a run at them but again can't afford injuries they don't tech or major most of our guys head to head and I like our chances in a dual with them.

We're going to slightly outpace our 8th place 60 point prediction from flo
This deserves a bump, and it should be repeated many times over the next few weeks.

Seriously, Flo?

I'm all for predictions made in good faith, but that stuff was ridiculous. And this is all without our heavyweight who very likely would have placed top 6 if healthy, and with our 174 going down early with a highly sub-par performance.

I doubt there's a wrestling fan with an IQ over 50 who thought Iowa would finish 8th in this thing.

Probably not going to be driving a lot of Flo subscriptions from Iowa fans with that kind of baloney.

My bad and thank god Mega is done, sport killing style.
The point remains, you claimed nolf and nickal are nothing compared to Ruth and Taylor, and I simply think you're wrong. Do you think they'll combine for 5 or more individual titles before they're done or not?

The last match took alot out of both Meyer and Brooks. Quick turnaround both looked slow and let opponent dictate flow of match, Meyer exceeds his seed and Brooks falls short of his.

Yes quick turn around for them both and I only got to watch the Meyer match and he looked so slow. I went and looked at how the other guys matches went. Brooks guy had two quick falls. The fall that Sammy would have helped him with more energy I am sure and Meyers guy had a previous Med For. Explains why he was so fresh.

Because it is fun to remind you how irrelevant Iowa has become in wrestling!! HAHAHAHA!!

I don't get the hate for Burak. Came to Iowa as a mid level recruit and consistently improved year after year. Went from losing to D3 wrestlers his first year to become a 3 time all american. Hopefully he can finish 3rd and close out a great career.

If our more heralded recruits would show the growth that Burak did over his career, we'd be much better off as a team.

When I've had conversations with Iowa fans at matches they've all appeared to have both knowledge and class. After reading through the contents and snide comments on this thread it's difficult to believe that most of the contributors here are boosters of the same institution.

I wonder who has more takedowns this season, Nico or Gilman? Also, you wanna talk about sport-killing, let's watch some Brandon Sorenson tape.

LOL. Better take one away from Chris Perry as well ... ;)
Yes should have given Evans one in the semis but hey that was in Okl City and the same reff that screwed Churreal (sp) from Michigan against Johnny Hendrich but that was also at Okl City in the semis and was luckly to see them both.
