Simone Biles AP female athlete of the year

If Iowa had won the NC, then i think Caitlin wins it easily. But she/Iowa did not win.

She’s a superstar for sure. A traveling circus to see her perform

But giving her the award would be very much like a participation trophy. Simone destroyed the competition despite being ancient compared to her rivals.

Now the Sporting news splitting between CC and AR, that seemed like a cop out

Derp.

When you can construct actual sentences as opposed to run-on word salads, then perhaps you’ll get a serious response.

But, yeah, my indifference to Angel Reese and Simone Bilas is the real issue. The always aggrieved snowflakes who perceive everything as a slight against Iowa because of “woke” culture—whatever the **** that is—are totally not “the problem” in the least. Excellent point.

God, you’re a ****ing idiot.
It has more to do with the idea that she hasn’t done as much this year as an Olympic year—when the world actually pays attention to gymnastics.
And the last time those were going on, she buckled and let her team down.

Caitlin is obviously extremely good, but I find some of the demands that we all recognize her as the greatest ever in her sport and all sports to be a little cult like

I'm starting to think some of the fathers of some posters touched their kids. Some of you people are Charmin.

Right?

This isn't like they're shoving more awards at Angel Reese to force her celebrity to stay on par with Caitlin Clark's.
Simon Biles is a great athlete and deserving of her previous 2 awards.

This year? An off Olympic year for a gymnast?

Maybe comeback athlete of the year would be more apt?

I just think a Clark made a much bigger impact on women’s sports this year.

This, I had not heard one word about biles. The media praised her for bailing on her team in the Olympics also, like she was a hero for it. No need to bash but there was no need to praise her either. The media is a joke

Biles winning OK, Clark second OK, but some of the other names on the list should not have even been mentioned, especially college basketball players.

Everyone keeps saying Biles “bailed” on her team. Wasn’t she experiencing some sort of condition that basically makes it impossible to understand where her body was during her runs? Like while she’s in the air? I remember hearing it was something that actually puts the athlete at risk for severe injury and makes it almost impossible to perform at a high level. I could be wrong, but I do remember a lot of talk about that. That’s not really “bailing” on your team.

I gotta be honest though.......I also don't care. No offense to anyone that does, of course.

It's athlete of the year. What has she done this year that would over stride what Clark has done both this year and last year to women's sports.

This choice is politically motivated pure an simple. It would be fine if it was an Olympic year and she sweept the medals but it isn't and she didn't not even in her last appearance.
Hmmm. So, you have an athlete who left the sport, a sport dominated by teenagers due to flexibility and injury who came back and won the national championship vs an athlete who hasn't won a national championship who also gets a ton of publicity. Just saying. on paper it isn't even close. Do you choose the winner or the loser?

This is correct. There were videos of her trying basic exercises and she couldn’t land on her feet. It wasn’t the “yips” so much as an imbalance in the mind that wouldn’t allow her to figure out how to operate her body in the air/space.

This wasn’t her just up and leaving.

Thats like saying Cade quit on Iowa this year cause his body gave out

Biles came out of a two-year retirement from gymnastics, and decided to make a comeback at the age of 26, which is super old for gymnastics.

She won four world championship gold medals, her sixth US all-around title, while becoming the oldest woman to win the US all-around.

That gave her 30 world championship medals, the most ever, of which 23 are gold, the most ever. The all-around was her sixth all-around world title.

So Simone had 4 world championship titles in 2023, including the all-around. Caitlin didn't win the NCAA championship last year, she was a runner-up.
Caitlin didn't have the opportunity to win individual championships. But, you already know that.

Loser??? So, you say Caitlin didn't win a national championship?? No, fool- the TEAM didn't. Unlike Simone, Caitlin didn't have an opportunity to win an individual championship in her sport. Try another comparison.

We've come a long way in recognizing the damage from sexual and childhood abuse. The average age when someone deals with it is 52. Which one she have been recognized I s a fair debate. Biles didn't select herself. Why the personal attacks. Mental/emotional injuries are just as real as physical injuries that can be scene. The brain is actually physically damages.

Iowachad an all American Aussie and an all American who didn't finish the season. Let it go.

Fool. You do realize that Clark has consistently said she wants to win a national title. Not that she wants the team to win. SHE wants to win so in her mind she can win a title. But hey, stick with your little nit-picking statement as if it's the norm in sports. In every team sport the phrase I used is common. Heck on this board it's common to say that Fran lost this, or he can't win that, but he can't do either because it's a team sport. My statement is perfectly fine, and your comeback is fragile and lame.

No, it just randomly happened. Of course it did

Never happened to any of the communist gymnasts back in the day as they'd probably, still, be in a re-education camp.

Get real. What players says WE want to win a title in general. It is understood that she wants to be on a team that wins a title, she wants to be a part of that. She can't speak for the teammates about winning or losing, so it is 'I'.
