Toussant is probably too (unwhite) to play. But the kid is fast. And we lack fast. Nunge with his year off and weight gain is still s l o w.

When Iowa is picked 8th or 9th in the pre Big 10 rankings people are insulted by that then you have to watch this train wreck of a 1st half and th experts are so so right.

YOU CAN'T TEACH FAST. Foster good or bad probably made the smart choice.

What anyone sees in Connor McCaffery is beyond me.

He should do his dad a favor and stick with baseball.

There were obvious changes needed in the starting lineup even after the first game. Good news is this performance was so bad that hopefully players are switched out. Unfortunately, I think Fran is going to keep a long leash.

Starting line up needs to be Garza, Pemsl, Joe W, CJ and Joe T. That should be the primary minutes. Then Kreiner off the bench, with JBO. We don’t need to go deeper unless there’s foul trouble. When we do PMac or Bakari

pemsl ? wow

This is the most obvious statement ever.

Problem is... Who throws the best full court baseball pass? We all know that is what the most important PG skill

iowa can compete with this configuration. I'm not saying they will win games, but they can at least compete.

Agreed. Iowa... Where nepotism reigns supreme
That's part of it, but truthfully it's not the only problem. Iowa needs a ball stopper at the guard position and Connor isn't going to shut down high level PG's.

But the roster has too many bigs. Fran feels obligated to play them, but they're too slow footed to play the 4. Wieskamp is a willing rebounder. I've seen Fredrick fight for box out position. Go small.

1. Toussaint
2. Bohannon
3. Fredrick
4. Wieskamp
5. Garza

People wanting more Toussaint did actually tune in before the last ten minutes of garbage time, right? 0-2 with a turnover and a technical foul before that. He didn't score until 8:45 left in the game against the DePaul backups.

Yes I and I’ll stand by he needs to play and make some mistakes. He’s no all-American but he has something sorely lacking and that’s quickness and toughness.

You did notice his quick hook in the first half while Connor continually sucked.

Yeah JoeT is going to make mistakes, but you can't teach quickness and he plays REAL defense.

Connor on the other hand, I saw him tripping over his own feet and turning the ball over. Unless he's suddenly developed a reliable 3-ball, he is a role player backup PG. He certainly fits the mold of the rest of the team--which is Slow...that starting 5 was the worse lineup I have seen since Lickliter era.

0-2 with a turnover in only a couple minutes should get you yanked.

Connor didn't suck in the first half (at least anymore than anyone else). 3 assists and no turnovers. Made both his free throws and his only 3 point attempt. Missed a shot the last minute of the half. 5 points and 3 assists per half with no turnovers consistently would be perfectly fine. In fact 10 ppg and 6 apg would be pretty great stats and maybe all-conference consideration. He did turn it over a couple times in the second half and I probably wouldn't have put him in after he was bleeding.

three games into his second year we’ve reached the point where Connor is to blame for everything. It’s completely stupid.

connor had the second highest offensive rating on the team tonight, without the benefit of playing against the backups.

Touissant gets limited PT with the reserves. Think you need to fact check yourself on DePaul having bench guys in. His technical was silly, but how many T's has Connor gotten from being chippy in closer games than last night's? You saw the offense with Connor running the show. You really think it should remain status quo?

I know... the kid played with a gaping head wound. But people would rather call for the backup ( who looked completely rattled ) with speed and quickness but out of control and ignore the fact that the star player Weiskamp played his worst game as a Hawk.

I love Joe T as a prospect, but he wasn’t the answer last night. Speed is great, but if it’s out of control and basketball IQ goes out the window it’s actually a detriment.

DePaul shot over 60 percent as a team, that’s on everybody....

I was thinking they should've thrown a bandaid on that thing at least. The trainers should all be replaced arrrrrg

I would give Joe T. the keys to the car while fully realizing he is going to make some mistakes. However, it’s in the team’s best interest long term. Putting Connor out there at PG is really unfair to him. I’ve said from Day One, Connor does not have the skill set or speed/quickness to play PG at this level. That is not a knock on Connor. He is what he is and that would be a role player who brings passion and intensity when he is on the court. There are minutes for those types of players. Nunge needs to decide sooner than later whether he wants to be an Observer or a Participant. JBO needs to shut it down and be 100% for next year. He would benefit greatly from Joe T. having a year of experience under his belt, Pemsl just needs minutes to get back in the flow of things. Still feel he can be a major contributor.

He could end up being a decent player, but he’s certainly not the solution to our problems. We meet a complete overhaul when it comes to recruiting and our roster. I don’t knowing there will be a single big ten team we have more talent then. ?
