SNL is still crushing it after all these years.

2012 Vice Presidential Debate - SNL

SNL has always been hit or miss if you ask me.

Generally I don't take the time to watch the whole episode but I'll watch some skits on you-tube if they look good.

t's always been hit or miss. Even in the early days with Akroyd, Belushi and others, not all episodes were classics by any means.

I think the cast and the writers now are the best yet. Of course, the current political situation helps. The Orange Turd is a cash cow for comedy.

I will say James Austin Johnson is the first guy they have had that can really nail the Trump impression. He could also nail a Biden impression too.

He's IMO one of their most talented people in the format.

The first five hosts of the 50th season have been announced, and Jean Smart gets the honor of hosting the season opener. She will be followed by Nate Bargatze, Ariana Grande, Michael Keaton, and John Mulaney. Some pretty big musical guests to start of the season, too.
It isn't in this article, but Lorne Michaels has teased that James Austin Johnson will not portray Donald Trump. Michaels said that Johnson played Trump one way, but since his disastrous debate performance they want to go a different way with whoever portrays him.

I know Michael Keaton only

I read today that Stevie Nicks will be the musical guest for the Ariana Grande episode on October 12. It will be her first appearance on SNL since 1983.

Like personally? Smart has been active for 50 years, or so. Bargatze is a helluva comic who hosted one of the best episodes last year, and Mulaney is a former SNL writer who also hosted last year.
Ariana Grande, not sure on that one, myself. Stumped.

I know of Grande and if the others were hosts last year I'll recognize them then. Just didn't know the name.

Yes. Pretty wild. She was fappable back in the day on MTV. Probably still would and just think about the video of Stand Back while I did it.

Who Has Replaced SNL 2024’s Fired Cast Members? 3 New Comedians Revealed

Bowen Yang has been doing a lot of interesting podcast stuff lately. Here is an article mentioning Sydney Sweeney wanting to play up her boobies when she hosted. The show featured a memorable skit linked, in which Sweeney and Yang hook up.
You don’t have to be Russ Meyer to know Sydney Sweeney’s tits are her best attribute as an actress.

Bowen Yang is a national treasure. Not enough Sarah Sherman tonight, however. Also, how didn't they have a Please Don't Destroy short ready to go?

No, the “old school” SNL with Chevy Chase, Belushi, Jane Curtain etc was MUCH better than modern day SNL.
