Snyder v. Sadulaev

Peak early? Like, after a few world and Olympic titles?

I love the enthusiasm, but it's not absurd to think he could somehow breakdown - physically or otherwise - and never win another Gold.

Too often people assume trajectory or constant success. Rory McIllroy, Aaron Judge, Grant Hill, etc. Just because they have brilliant success early you can't simply tack on the trajectory permanently.

What he's already done is amazing, nearly inconceivable, and he is on track to be the greatest ever.

I agree with you.

On the other hand, Snyder is already at the top of the highest podium in the wrestling world. He really doesn't have to improve at this point, but I'd bet he does.

The field really has some catching up to do.

Staying healthy is another story, as anybody can get hurt and there's no way to predict injuries.

Agreed. Health isn't always physical either. I hope he success as long as Burroughs has, if so he will be at the very top of the list.

On this topic, I'm listening to trackwrestling's Mat Chat right now, and they are talking about Snyder's workouts, and how they have been unable to get his heard rate above 190bpm (paraphrasing) no matter how hard they push him. He's apparently really efficient at aerobic respiration. The "gassed" look may only be the way he looks, as he's probably intentionally breathing really heavily to keep his O2 levels up.

190 bpm? Dang -- I don't think my ticker could reach that if it had to. I'm doing well to hit 140. But then I'm a washed up, has-been, old fart.

My father-in-law had Atrial Fibrillation for a while and his 55 year old heart would "get stuck" in the 220bpm range for hours at a time. That's mostly fixed now . . . But I digress . . .
